Thread: Train mishap in norman

  1. Default Train mishap in norman

I woke up to this today, got up about 9:30 and there was a train on the tracks just sitting he moved and made a awful noise, I figured he was haveing engine problems, I had company and when they left they went to end of street and around the corner and told what happened so I took some pics. Story I got was just as he passed over the Robinson crossing the back dolly wheels and part of the car ripped off, had a stress crack in the metal, the car was loaded with corn, dumped a bunch out on the crossing and dragged it down the tracks, You can see the dolly wheels, and the car where it should be attached at to the car.

Here is the bottom of the railcar where it hit the tracks and torn up the bottom of the car, those are the hand cranks they open to let the corn out.

Oh I'm so tempted to say "GOOD" because I'm not native to Norman and trains constantly passing through town is one of my biggest annoyances now.

Anyway, thanks for posting the pics.

Does your shrink know about these violent thoughts of yours?

Yea they are a annoyance at times, they were really bad when they got tracks back opened seemed like every 10 minutes one was passing through, I am maybe around 50 to 100 feet from the tracks maybe farther, and it was noisy for awhile, but looking at that mess was unreal to stand there and watch the guys work and get it cleaned up that fast. This one wasn't nothing compared to the one that derailed at rock creek that had a bunch of wheat and torm up the track where the switch rail is, I didn't think rail road track could twist and bend like that, but guess with 80k pounds of metal rolling across it can.

The trains and the bad taste of the water are the two biggest complaints I hear from people living in Norman. Is there anyway the trains could not blow their whistle coming through town? Maybe when they finish the Lindsey and Robinson crossings.

Water is not that bad, trains have to blow there whistle at a set distance at every crossing no matter what, it would be nice if they wouldn't blow it all the way through town, just at crossings, but norman has alot of crossing so it seems like they are bowing it all the way through town.

Never mind him; he responds to every post with a question like this. Just FYI, he was once banned from this board. I just thought I'd share that.
