Thread: McNellie's

I believe the Bowery was still operating in the Plaza Court until around 1980.

I know McNellie's is planning to have live music as well, and that will be a great addition to that area.

I drove by earlier today and saw no work going on in there today. There was some boxes and a ladder. Looks like they've barely started anything yet. Maybe electrical and that's about it.

I checked it out today as well, they still have a long ways to go.

I visited McNellie's for the first time last Friday and was very impressed.

The owner was on hand making preparations for St. Pattie's Day and was very friendly. Had I known beforehand about the plans to branch out in OKC I would have asked more questions.

But the sweet potato fries were amazing, as was the beer selection!

oumoodman, just to clarify, you might mention you were at the one in Tulsa

Thought from my statement about "branching out to OKC" it was implied.

Also, anyone paying any attention to this thread would no the OKC location was yet to be completed.

BUT, for the record, yes the location I referred to in the post above was in Tulsa.

Something has clearly gone wrong at that location...

Has there been a hold up with permits or perhaps cash flow problems for McNellie's?

Almost no progress has been made in months -- just hope this project doesn't end up dying on the vine.

I went to McNellie's tonight and spoke to a manager there. He said zoning and permitting issues have held it up but that they are convinced they will be open by Labor Day.

McNellie's needs to hurry up and open... I know its been delayed for good reason but come on.

Hopefully E can make his new Public House shine like the original.

Part of the slow down was that McNellies decided to expand their space which required them to redraw the space and resubmit to the city. McNellie's is expecting great things from this location and they want to have it right on the front end. Smart if you ask me....nothing worse than remodeleding after your opened.

I also noticed that they recently have cut open an area between the first and second floors for the stairway and elevator. The on-site job supertindent said that they are getting ready to start blowing and going.

I'm ready for a burger and beer!

I predict this place is going to be a complete homerun.

Perfect type of place in a showcase location at a fantastic time.

Glad to hear they are taking their time to get it right.

I agree, Malibu. Hopefully, it will raise the exposure of the area as well. It's a good, safe first step to making mid-town a place to go out.

I love that it's 2 stories. That's a sign of a true urban restaurant, and we have very few like that. Chelino's... I can't think of any others. I was in NYC last week and ALL the pubs were 2 or 3 stories.

If the Bowery was as legendary as described, it seems it would be worth reviving, even if it's not a strictly punk venue. We could use another alt-rock venue with the Green Door now gone.

The Bowery could never be recreated. Things are way different now.

    Nonna's is also multistory

You clearly don't understand the kind of venue I mean.

Something like what the Green Door was and the Conservatory is. Indie, Emo, Punk, etc.

A nice jazz club would probably work too.

I was talking about multi-story restaurants/bars if you were addressing me...

I did forget Nonna's, metro. You could also include LiT and Bricktown Coneys & Dogs or whatever its called. And if you want to stretch it a little bit, the Petroleum Club is also multi-story.

Your quote including my discussion of alt-rock clubs, so that confused me.

I didn't know that Maker's was more than one floor.

yeah I think John's original post confused us all. And I still don't know how the alt/rock clubs are getting into the mix. The green door never was multi story, let alone a restaurant.

I forgot to delete the alt venue portion of jbrowns quote. My apologies.

Yes, the multi-story restaurant discussion was separate from the alt-rock venue discussion.

How about the multi-story McDonald's in Vanita, Ok?
