    Pahdz,
We enjoyed the food, especially the salmon at Ivar's, but the Boeing museum was really special.

Didn't have the salmon at Ivar's, we opted for a sampler of fresh oysters from area streams and estuaries, was amazing and the staff was well versed in the origins of each (guess you kinda have to).

Catch, if that doesn't make you friends in your new hometown I'll eat my hat. Just make sure you're telling it to native Oregonians, not the California transplants that make up half of the population in Oregon these days.
Love it! I'll have to use this!

    On the road again.

Two elephants from Seattle are again on their way to Oklahoma City Zoo | NewsOK.com

After legal battles, one aborted attempt, and a nearly monthlong delay, two Asian elephants are finally, once again, on their way to the Oklahoma City Zoo.

Bamboo and Chai left their temporary home at the San Diego Zoo about 10 p.m. CDT Monday. Their journey, on a flat-bed truck in climate-controlled crates, was expected to take up to 30 hours, meaning they could arrive in Oklahoma City as early as 11 p.m. Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Saw on the news this morning that they get to OKC about 3am today.

They should feel at home today, considering how chilly, dreary and rainy it is here right now. That sunny San Diego stop off was probably nightmarish for them.

    Too funny.

I believe that Lincoln Park Zoo (is it still called that?) is a fantastic zoo and
very humane. I wish we could have the monkey boat back. Or has it been
reinstated? That was my fave as a kid.

The controversy over the two Asian elephants transferred to the Oklahoma City Zoo was more about OKC taking something else (besides Sonics) from the Emerald City. The debate & penchant will continue about Zoos along with the role they play in the captivity of these wild species. You can be assured Seattle, that OKC will take good care of Bamboo & Chai as they have done with your beloved Supersonics. Hope & pray that Seattle will get an NBA franchise soon because the rivalry is heating up as OKC has made room for the NBA, Boeing & two adorable elephants.

Staffers from the Seattle zoo have been on hand to help with the introductions. They have helped decipher body language.

Newby said Bamboo initially displayed aggressive, assertive behavior but is now rubbing trunks with the others. The elephants were allowed to roam together in their yard for a few hours on Tuesday, and zookeepers will extend that time a little each day until they are together day and night.
The rest of you, my visits to the Emerald City has always been pleasant and impressive; Seattle, you have so much more to offer than OKC, please don't let this get the best of you.

Now we're going after DC's elephants!

Nobody expects the OKC Zoo inquisition. It just seems laughable, and then suddenly you have no more elephants.

I'm sure there's a Kevin Durant/Wizards parallel to be drawn here.

The Oklahoma City Zoo has given a home to elephants from Seattle, Washington and now one from Washington D. C. (Coast to coast). We are among the most reputable Zoos in the country.

Oklahoma City Zoo has spent its 1/8 cent sales tax funds wisely. Our Zoo continues to build quality exhibits. We are recognized: 10 Best Zoos for Kids@#20

As we continue this growth trend; more recognition will follow. OKC Zoo is among our best kept secrets; however, let's not keep it a secret--get the word out.

Lend your support, put the Zoo on your 'must see' attractions when you welcome out-of-state relatives, guests & friends to OKC.

If you think we have a lot of elephants in our zoo, you should see our Wal-Marts.
