Wow, this looks sharp. I understand the place has some kinks in service right now, but I can't imagine this not being a long term success & staple for the area.

Wow, amazing at what a little green adds to that street!

I love the Ralph Ellison connection, especially the large quote on the wall. Service was generally good and my Philly Cheesesteak was outstanding. I'd recommend serving on tin trays (like Backdoor BBQ does) instead of in baskets. Just might make it feel casual still, but not too casual. I'll definitely go back again, especially with that patio. Best of luck moving forward, JarrodH.
It should be noted that the "basket" you reference was probably a old LP that had been molded into the shape of a basket... I got a old Frankie Valley record last week-pretty cool!

Huh. It just seemed like a regular old plastic basket, but it's very possible I just wasn't paying attention.

After reading Jarrod's response to the critical reviews, including mine, I decided to give Slaughter's Hall another try for lunch this afternoon. The difference in my experience today versus the last several times was like night and day. I was immediately greeted and given a menu. The drinks were promptly brought to me and the food came out quickly and was very good. The waiter, who was also serving as bartender, was very polite, quick, and professional with everything. Everything about the experience was top notch. Now, I was there for a late lunch and was the only person there eating, so that may have been a contributing factor to the quality of service, but I do plan to go back when it's busier to see how they're doing. But, on first glance, it does look like Jarrod has made some changes for the better.

Went on Saturday for late lunch, Patio was full and inside was probably 10% to 20% full (beautiful day). Everything was excellent. Really impressed with the product.

Just hit town had a very late lunch here...

    Wow. It was fantastic.

First, I love the space. I knew I would from the photos just from the setting but in person it just really felt good to me. The outdoor patio is going to get tons of use on nice days.

I had the reuben and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The pastrami was incredibly tender, flavorable and not fatty at all. Everything about it was great. The fries were really good too; even the ketchup tasted great. Had a couple of beers and just enjoyed the whole experience immensely.

Jarrod told me they are about to put out new menus with a slightly revised bill of fare.

Oh, and service was great too. Big thumbs up from me. I'll be back, and probably on this trip.

I grabbed beers and "The Max" (pastrami on rye) there Monday night before the Thunder game and it was fantastic. Also enjoyed the Rogue Dead Guy XS, which I'd never had before despite being a regular drinker of Dead Guy. Great service at the bar, too.

If you happen to make it back before you leave town.... I highly recommend the house made potato chips.

Thanks for the recommendation -- I'll definitely try them next time.

I think I had the same sandwich as Urbanized. There were several others that looked pretty tasty.

I have had the reuben and agree that it is a solid sandwich..... I've been trying to decide what I want for lunch today.... May have to go get a bowl of Lefty's Mac & Cheese to knock the chill off.

Glad to hear the food is hopefully improving. Wife and I went several months ago shortly after they opened - had no issues with service, but our food was downright atrocious - mac-n-cheese was bland, unseasoned, and horribly overcooked. The bun on my sandwich wasn't toasted at all and was completely soggy. Sounds like things have improved though - the menu certainly looks and sounds good - so if the execution has improved, Slaughter's will definitely do well! And the patio - definitely looks impressive! We usually go to Johnnie or Slim's for our downtown patio, but Slaughter's deserves another chance it looks like!

I had the Pastrami Reuben. The best of all possible worlds. Really, really good.

I took my friend from across the pond to this place yesterday and it was very good. I had the "Max" pastrami on rye and I added swiss cheese. I also had the French fries. My friend had the chicken salad sandwich with the potato chips. We shared the fries and chips. Of course, I had a beer and everything was good including service. I will go back.

I was there with the BF on Friday for lunch... Great atmosphere and in a really neat building. Walked in and the place was quiet, and initially, service was quick and attentive. However, as other patrons came in - including some that the waitstaff seemed to know - service quickly deteriorated; once our meal was delivered to the table, we were completely forgotten about while the waitstaff chatted with their friends. After finishing our food, we waited for about 20 minutes for the check while we finished our beers; then we got tired of waiting and ended up having to walk up to the bar to finally get our check and to pay.

The food was really great; the Reuben was pretty amazing, and the Tortarex was even moreso. I wasn't in love with the house made potato chips, but they weren't bad, either. The sea salt fries, though... Wow. I'll give these guys another shot, because I enjoyed the heck out of the food, but the poor service really killed the experience for us. Here's hoping next time is better.

I am a huge advocate for this place but I did have my first service hiccup Sunday for brunch. Everything was great until it was time for our check and I had to wait 15-20 minutes so we did the same and went to the bar to ask for it.

Other than that, great as usual.

If it's anything like the other sandwiches I've had there, it's knock-your-socks-off good.

Tried to order lunch for the office today as I have been wanting to try the food since the OKCTalk outing there. Unfortunately. they were closed due to some flooding last night but said would be open back up at dinner. We ordered Urban Johnnies. Mixed reviews from the office. Some liked..some thought just ok. Was prepared amazingly quick. Can't wait to try Slaughter's Hall though.

We did indeed flood a bit on Wednesday night but are back up and running normally now. Unfortunately, our back door sits about 8 feet below the hill behind us and the flash floods caused water to breach our retaining wall, sending water down the stairs and onto the floor. Luckily our floors are cement and our furniture is mostly metal so we had no major or permanent damage, just a day of cleaning.

Glad to hear. My mom is in town and we're heading there in a little bit to grab a bite to eat.

I got the Lefty's Mac & Cheese at the get-together. HIGHLY recommend. Best I've ever had.
