    Bricktown3 Cosmopolitan OKC

Bobby Dennis, one of the original proprietors of CityWalk and Murphy's, has started construction on a new multi-theme upscale club in the penthouse level space atop JDM Place on the Bricktown Canal. The previous occupant was Skky Bar which closed last year.

To be called Cosmopolitan OKC, the club will feature three different themes in the large, 12,500 square foot space: DOUX, a craft cocktail lounge; The Roost, a cigar bar; and Malarkey's, a dueling piano bar.

The entire space will be non-smoking apart for the expansive patio that faces the Bricktown canal to the south and Bricktown Ballpark to the east.

Cosmopolitan will target a mature, sophisticated crowd and while not a full-service restaurant, will offer small plates and desserts.

The design is by Bella Vici which recently moved into a new location in Deep Deuce. Local businessman Ray Belcher is a partner along with Dennis.

With a targeted opening date set for April, the plan is to operate seven days a week from 6PM to 2AM, although Malarkey's would only be open Thursdays through Saturdays starting at 8PM.

The club will be directly across the canal from Brickopolis, a restaurant, games and miniature golf complex currently under construction.

How do you have a non-smoking facility that includes a cigar bar?

From my understanding it will be a bar inside with the large patio outside being used for smoking. It will be tough in oklahoma even with misters and heaters to keep everyone comfortable on an outdoor patio.

Helps that it will be 50' in the air, east-facing, and occupied at night.

I stuck my head in there a couple of days ago and they are moving right along.

From what finishes that I saw, this is going to be nicer than most people realize. It's great space to begin with and they a pumping a lot of money into it.

I heard they had a clause in their lease that would allow them to be evicted if this turned into a "Night club" and they would still be on the hook for the total value of the lease.
The landlord is being REALLY strict to only allow this as a "Lounge" use.

They better move some serious food and drinks to cover that $20,000 per month rent payment!

If you were to see how the space is divided up, it's obvious it's a series of lounges and not any sort of true club.

They won't even have a dancefloor.

How fast will they have a lawsuit over the name? Vegas casinos don't mess around with bars taking their names.

The word "cosmopolitan" is generic enough I doubt anybody will tie it in with the Vegas casino. If it were the Bellagio or the Mirage, then yes I could see it, but not Cosmopolitan.

Unless they are using it on a casino/hotel there isn't a problem. The word and name Cosmopolitan is a well used title and hard to TM except in specific uses. And most people (by far) don't go to Vegas and won't associate it with the hotel and casino.

Interesting. DOUX and The Roost looks very WXYZ-ish. Or are those photos of the same place? One is clearly Doux, then you have an identical looking bar, but with pink lighting in another photo.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the now dueling, dueling piano bars in BT.

It was posted a while back that ACM@UCO is trying to evict Michael Murphy's so this may become the sole dueling piano bar in Bricktown.

I think the two photos, one with blue and the other with pink lighting are of the same bar.

It looks a lot better than that place it was before. I had a high school reunion a few years back and our Friday get together was there. It was not good. Although, Cosmoplitan looking better than that is kind of along the lines of "less than crappy..." Maybe it looks better in person, but in those photos, the fit and finish looks a little cheap.

Cosmopolitan closed a couple of weeks ago and is set to reopen as Glam.

New operator is Jeff Rogers of Pink Parrot / Malarkeys / Candy fame.

Was it not? Pretty sure I've seen those attributed to him. If not, apologies.

That was a manager for the Pink Parrot, I believe -- not Jeff.
