Oh it's noticeable if you've ever ridden a bike up it going westbound on 2nd. Incidentally the "deep" in "Deep Deuce" is an indicator of the hill and how deep you had to go to get to the river bank that used to be there. Which I know most of you knew. Just sayin.

You're right. A bike is really the best way to figure out just how much topography there actually is downtown. I think most people assume it's mostly flat. Ride a bike from MBG to Midtown and that tune will change in a hurry. Midtown would also be a perfect spot for below-grade parking thanks to the elevation. The area around MBG, not so much.

All the skateboarders around here know it. I see groups of them enjoying the hill on nice weekend days.

    That's a big hole.

You get some perspective of how deep the hole is compared to the men standing in the north east corner.

This one guy who knew this other guy tells me there used to be dirt in that very hole. Interestingly enough, I too, believe, there used to be dirt there. We know one thing about this hole, there is not dirt in the hole excepty for the bottom of the hole.

Yeah, I meant height wise. I don't really know how tall average construction equipment is. I do know about how tall average men are.

With the booming housing in Maywood and Deep Deuce, do you guys think anything new will be proposed for the land just north of Maywood, where the distribution buildings are? It seems like a perfect place for a grocery store. It's close to the housing stock and easy interstate access.

DD will have a Meatball House (same concept they're putting into the Cafe Plaid spot), La Baguette Express and a private chef's table and lounge all in the Maywood Apartments to be built.

BTW, the paywall seems to only exist on the mobile platform. When using the desktop version, the paywall comes in the form of a 2-5 question survey. Simply answer the questions and oila, you have full access to the article.

Yes, they are taking all the space shown below (the demolished but soon-to-be-rebuilt historical structures) and have all three concepts under one roof but somewhat separated.

I understand the interior design is going to be incredible.

Obviously a long way to go before opening, but should be a really slick project and set of concepts.

I was thinking the same thing... For a while, I wasn't sure this was going to make it back to ground level. Lol.
