Maybe they would marvel at a Marvel park. Call it Marvel Universe as opposed to Disney Land/World.

There. Theme park and super heroes.

I have been told the River Market area and downtown KC have added something like 10,000 residential units in the last 10 years. River Market is a pretty cool area.

Kansas City is a better city and area than Dallas. There's plenty in KC for Dallas to be jealous of and little vice versa. To me the only things better in Dallas than KC are the airport, jobs/economy and Six Flags over Worlds of Fun. Which is sad since DFW is three times larger than KC. Living in Kansas City would be far better than living in the Metroplex.
Depends how much you enjoy shoveling snow.

Steve Lackmeyer: It's dying. If it goes totally dead, I'll share details of what was attempted.

Things aren't looking good for this development, whatever it was.

Darn. Well, that's fine. As long as we get to hear what it was and doesn't totally go out the door without even a whisper.
It's one of those things, though, that hopefully wouldn't have needed some additional community input or interest once we know AFTER THE FACT.

You know, one of those situations where "well, if we would have known months ago, maybe we could have helped drive interest."
I guess we'll hear soon enough.

But what would happen to this entertaining thread? Surely something could keep it going.

How about we switch gears and ask ourselves "what do we have in OKC, already in place, that makes other cities jealous?"

I'll start: pretty much no traffic. It's a beautiful thing.

How about we switch gears and forget Steve ever mentioned this.

Maybe compared to cities much larger than OKC but not to cities the same size.

Dallas and KC are always going to be one or two steps ahead of OKC. There really isn't anything that is going to make them jealous unless another Devon Tower type project gets announced.

Why would even that make Dallas jealous? It really wouldn't. Have you seen some of the bongs announced for Dallas? I dislike Dallas a lot but come on now.

I am generally curious about some of the claims you've made. I doubt that 10,000 number greatly. 10,000 units is A LOT.

Second, what does KC have that makes Dallas jealous? That's an interesting opinion of yours.

If you like the bongs in Dallas than you should check out Denver.

Yes. The original 925' Devon Tower would have definitely made Dallas or KC jealous.

Having just been in Dallas yesterday, I can attest that there is virtually nothing I can think of that is realistic for OKC that would make Dallas jealous. That city truly is a different world compared to OKC. To put it into perspective, Amarillo is to OKC what OKC is to Dallas. I doubt OKC will ever be jealous of anything that happens in Amarillo. That's why I have said for a long time that "impressed by" would have been a better choice of words than "jealous." It is possible to have a development in OKC that even Dallasites would be impressed by, but jealous? Probably not.

the only thing I could think of that would make Dallas jealous is if we got a Disney Land theme park. If we got that, you could bet on Universal coming in behind them.

Dallas really is my all time favorite city outside of LA.

I love cities where I can get on a 20 lane highway or choose not to drive and take mass transit which is everywhere in Dallas.

Possibly KC, but only to a small minority of people who care about things like that.

A 900 footer would make a city with a 900 footer jealous or envious.

You'd love Venice, Italy too. Lots of 20 lane boulevards running through the canals there.

Venice does seem nice as well as Amsterdam, however, I will not be visiting those cities for highways or wide roads. I don't go to dense urban cities and complain about their not being wide highways and roads. I love that about Dallas and it needs to stay that way. I'd also like to see Oklahoma City model from Dallas in that regard.
