Thread: Development that will make Dallas and KC Jealous?

Lol. Tokyo is at the very top. Besides these new giga cities, I really see Tokyo, NYC, Paris, and Beijing as the worlds leading cities and dominance wise. To compare Dallas to Chicago is laughable. Chicago has 9 million in the msa, although Dallas is growing much faster. Weird though, how a city with a vibrant urban core is being beat out in growth by a city with large sprawling highways and endless suburbia.

If they want real white water, they're going to go to the Big Bend, Rio Grande, or to Colorado. I'll let you in a on a little secret, Dallas has more class than to go on a white water excursion to some city like OKC for a fake experience.

It's laughable that people on here are saying Dallas is going to be jealous of that. Dallas is hardly jealous of our zoo. But go on, anything to say something Dallas lacks or the typical endless sprawl mess blah blah blah. Dallas is 20x the city OKC is and will ever be and a white water course isn't changing that.
You are the one being laughable here. There is a reason the Olympic training centers have all turned to man made courses. A man made course can be changed with the push of a button. It is constant and not dependent upon natural water sources. Give up Plupan while you can. This whitewater course will be one of the best in the world.

Here's what you can do, six months after it's open, come do a car tag check in the parking lot.

What's your criteria for a leading city? Beijing is a ****hole compared to the other cities you listed.

Outside of New York; Dallas has more $1 million dollar businesses that any other metropolitan area in the country. Steve's 'make jealous' comment was more of a figurative expression than it was meant to be taken literally.

Captain Comet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Captain Comet is from "Midwest City". Probably meant as a generic city name, but I'm all for the metro claiming him. Take that, Dallas.

You know, there is more to superheroes than Marvel and DC. Especially in Japan. Do your own homework.

I'm going to Kansas City - I'll let you know what I think they'd be jealous of. From what my friends from KC tell me, they have nothing going on by their river though - so I'd imagine what we have going on would make them jealous.

I think they are pulling your leg.

I have been told the River Market area and downtown KC have added something like 10,000 residential units in the last 10 years. River Market is a pretty cool area.

Kansas City is a better city and area than Dallas. There's plenty in KC for Dallas to be jealous of and little vice versa. To me the only things better in Dallas than KC are the airport, jobs/economy and Six Flags over Worlds of Fun. Which is sad since DFW is three times larger than KC. Living in Kansas City would be far better than living in the Metroplex.

The "NYPD" part indicates he is not in Tokyo.

I really like Kansas City's historic architecture. The city has a lot of charm and a lot of history still intact and that makes for a great downtown. Its an underrated city as well from a national perspective. Kansas City offers a lot that most don't realize it does. In terms of growth though KC cannot even begin to compare to the overall scale of the boom Dallas is currently experiencing.

I agree with you about Worlds of Fun. That is a park that has seen better days. A lot of the rollercoasters that they had in the '90s are no longer there.

The Plaza in KC is second to none, although I liked it much better in the pre-chain era when there were some pretty amazing local stores and restaurants. But, it is so beautiful and unique. I can't think of a shopping area anywhere that comes close to it in terms of architecture. We can't duplicate that, much less surpass it, as the cost would be prohibitive. It will have to be something that either is minimally retail or non-retail, if Steve is correct. As far as amusement parks go, the only think that would make KC and Dallas jealous would be a Disney park.
