Thread: BP Lower 48 Office in OKC

Midtown BP Lower 48 Office in OKC

    http://newsok.com/new-bp-subsidiary-...rticle/5392695

Dave Lawler, brother to Chesapeake's Doug and former SandRidge COO, is moving back to OKC from Houston... with this BP Lower 48 team. This is exciting news! I know many on here want non-O&G related industries, but to have a BP presence in OKC will be awesome. Good luck to Dave!

I've heard the long term plan is closing the Houston office and moving everyone to OKC.

Should we start a tower floor-count/height/location guessing game already?

I'm always up for that. 52 stories and the new tallest buildings in OKC at 875 feet. Although I would rather have 2 600 foot buildings to increase the skyline.

My guess - 2 stories on Broadway.

Brett Clanton, spokesman for BP, confirmed the deal on Wednesday, saying the company’s Lower 48 Onshore subsidiary leased the second floor, and part of the first floor, about 14,000 square feet, of the Pontiac Building, 1100 N Broadway.
Don't get too starry eyed there....

Since BP created a separate company for Lower 48, how would an XOM acquisition of BP affect this? That's looking like a real possibility.

More bad news for OKC. BP Lower 48 is relocating to Denver. They are moving a ton of Houston staff up there and (I assume) closing or downsizing the office they just opened on Broadway.

I believe they are keeping this office open. I think they are just expanding.

Good to hear! But man I sure wish we had landed that relocation rather than Denver. And with the Lawler connection and the existing offices I assume we had the inside track, at least at one point or another in the corporate decision-making process.

If they are staying, how much does that have to do with GE I wonder?

From what I read it's only a few hundred going to Denver, plus some of the Houston office will remain along with the OKC location.

The number that has been communicated is 200 people for the Denver office.

Yes, about 200 people initially and they are maintaining offices in OKC and Houston. BP will be taking about 86,000 sq/ft of this project currently under construction:

Mountains and streams in one picture. How could they possibly choose that over OKC? :-P

FYI - Not sure how much of a factor it played, but the Lawler brothers grew up in Denver and attended school at the Colorado School of Mines.
