That is Jack Black......the bloated talentless hack.
Jack White at least offers a glimpse of originality although at times it appears he leans a bit to heavily on his influences.

The releases on his label (Third Man Records) are pretty good, and I like his solo stuff a bit better than White Stripes, Raconteurs don't do much for me, but Dead Weather is pretty good. Might have to try to see this show, brother's seen him something like a dozen times, he must put on a good show.

He actually produced and played on her entire record (the excellent Van Lear Rose). He did the same a few years later with Wanda Jackson. He is a serious devotee of roots music, classic country, rockabilly, etc.

On his tour this year he had a picture taken at the Gold Dome building that he posted online. They had a somewhat leisurely tour over the summer, he had a couple of shows at Red Rocks and went to a couple of Rockies games. He was hitting baseball games at ballparks all along his tour, in fact some of the dates were structured around baseball games. He is a huge Tigers fan but just loves the game.

Looking forward to it. Although I'm an OU alum, I've never been to McCasland Fieldhouse. (Don't frequent the stadium either.) Any tips on getting in and out of there from OKC? In a blizzard?

Do they sell drinks (I know they won't sell alcohol, but just regular bottled soda)?

Probably going to Fuzzy's Taco Shop to eat beforehand, and then (maybe) walking to the show, but we have no idea where to park, on-campus, in the lot by the Field House (if there is one), on the street by Fuzzy's, etc., so any hints on that would be nice...

Best way to get in and out of there (there being wherever we park, probably on campus, but not sure)? In a blizzard?

I wouldn't count on being able to park by the field house. I used to park in the one on the East side of the field house when OU played their basketball games there and I belonged to the Tip In Club but it's a very small lot. If you get there early enough you might get into the public parking garage next to the student union. When going to events in the campus area I always come in from the north through downtown instead of using Lindsey or Highway 9. It may not be the best for everything but it always works well for me.

Since OU razed the houses on the east side of Jenkins across from the Field House, there's usually plenty of parking for events at the Field House in those lots as well as the lots up by the Sarkeys Energy Center - I was just there a few days ago for a cheer/pom event and parked in the lot where University Place deadends and had no issues finding a spot

I'm sure they'll have the parking garage by the football stadium open so that's a possibility - another option would be to park in the lot by Dale Hall Tower and walk across the South Oval to the Field House - you're already walking up to Fuzzy's so what the heck?

Regardless of where you decide to park, chances are high that OU will be looking to make more $$$ by having their lot guards out - be prepared to pay to park like on a football gameday

And I 100% agree with ljbab728 - if you're coming into Norman from OKC on I-35, use the Flood/Hwy 77 cutoff to get into town and avoid all the traffic issues that come with getting to campus from the Main/Lindsey/Hwy 9 exits

Well, that was a hell of a show, great sound even though it was in a field house, great songs/performance, but it got kinda weird (I think most folks that know a bit about him knows that he's a whiny a**hole, though)...

When the tour manager came out before the show with his guac, he asked folks to not take pics, put the cameras and phones away, they have a photographer who travels with them to take pics. And he took some good ones, way the hell better than those idiots out in the audience did.

My brother was happy it was a full-sized light show/stage, he said that at Cain's they couldn't do the above-stage lighting, curtains, etc. He's got a cool vibe going on live - all the roadies/techs dress in slacks/shirts/suspenders/hats, all the lighting is blue, etc. Not sure if I need to see him again, but glad I saw him once...

I think it's a good way to do it, too. The last few larger shows I've seen have all made comments about the cameras, and Beck and Jack White made direct points about it. It's funny because it used to be a copyright issue, not it's just a "hey, how stupid is it for you to pay the money and take the time to actually go to a show and then just watch it through a 5" screen so you can share it with people who didn't care enough to be there in the first place".

I saw him in Nashville at an arena the week before, and it was essentially the same production, as far as lights and stage setting goes. The set lists were different and he played both with the Raconteurs and Loretta Lynn in Nashville, but otherwise similar set ups.

That rider is not especially weird or difficult. Definitely not "bizarre." And the guac recipe is probably in there because they travel all over the U.S. and the world to places where people have no earthly idea what guac is, let alone how to make it.

I saw DLR do an interview on that a few years back, and it was really interesting. In a nutshell he said it was buried in the rider for safety reasons. He said (correctly) that Van Halen was one of the bands at that time that was pushing the envelope with lighting and other stage production, and were doing things that a lot of promoters and venues weren't familiar with. He talked about the liability that bands have related to concertgoers and crew, and how you end up every single night being forced to blindly trust a lot of people you don't know and who you have never done business with. He even mentioned contemporary examples of stage collapses due to wind, including the Flaming Lips show in Tulsa and the Sugarland show in Indiana that killed 7 people.

He said that the brown M&M clause basically existed so that if the band walked into their dressing room and the correct candy wasn't there, they would know that the promoter had not thoroughly read the contract, which included mountains of verbiage related to safety, rigging, etc. According to DLR if the band saw that the M&M clause was ignored, they immediately put everything on hold and had their crew closely inspect all other contractually-mandated items, to make sure that they were done to VH's satisfaction.

It was an interesting and actually pretty believable story.

Yep the same story was in his book which btw is a wonderful read.
He said basically somewhere{pueblo co} I believe they found brown M@Ms backstage and knew their demands for stage/lighting were compromised. The stage had actually sunk the flooring in the arena to the tune of thousands of $$ in damage and a few days after the incident you saw on the headlines VH/Roth does several thousands of dollars to the backstage area.
Roth basically said who was he to get in the way of a good rumor so he kept mum about it for quite some time.

When regular people read a band's rider they always freak out. But bands actually make most of their money on tours and merch. People remember concerts for decades, it only takes one bad show for 10,000 people to have a "oh that guy sucks in concert" story for the rest of their lives. Riders protect the band and honestly, the fans experience. They have to do the same show like 50 times in a row. I travel for an office job and have found that the only way to keep from going crazy on the road is to have a routine, especially when it comes to diet and preparation for work. I can't imagine sitting on a tour bus and just hoping everything works correctly when we get there. Having the trajectory of your career depend on how detail oriented each city's promoter is can be quite the gamble.

His guitar apparently wasn't working at the beginning according to TLO, that's pretty unacceptable. You can ignore the guac, but the rider is there for THAT reason.
