The area used to have more foot traffic ... before they made it harder to walk/climb out of the county jail.
A whole slew of big building permit applications were filed by Lingo today for this project.
I'm really intrigued by the north parcel across Main Street, which unless Hall acquires more the adjacent parcel to the north, will be a flatiron shaped site.
I am growing weary of all these squares, which really isn't the greatest urbanism. I think OKC just embraced the square because we don't know how to weave urban fabric any other way.
Which explains the Classen Drive bond project switcharoo.
Fred Jones Enterprises has a new location west of MacArthur on SW 29th. Should be clearing out the old plant soon if it hasn't already happened.
Last week it looked well underway. The site is secured, construction fence up, there are signs of heavy dismantling work, and they had lights on overnight twice.
What is Fred Jones Enterprises?
Why oh why can't this type of vision extend down to Main and Hudson...
Bunker down because from the outside, it's not going to look like much is happening for quite a long time. Demo and rehab on the inside is going to take quite a long time and even doing windows is sort of at the end of any timeline (don't want to risk messing them up). When we worked on the rehab at the Lucent plant office building, it was a similar process. Demo'ing out all the crap from the inside was a long process, then basically ripping out all the electrical, plumbing, hvac, etc and starting from square one. I think the fire alarm was the only thing that stayed. We actually had very few offices compared to open floor space for the amount of room each floor has, but man it took almost a year just to get one floor good to go. And that's after a significant amount of work was done before we signed a lease to start our work.....of course I say we, but I don't work for that company anymore. But it was quite a project to be a part of.
I've noticed recently there appears to be some frame work taking place on the 2nd level. Even clearing the trees revealing the building has already made a difference. Very excited about this!
I would expect them to demo the metal buildings on the south side pretty soon.
That will make a big difference as well.
Is there a rendering out there of the finished building with the signs and everything up?
I liked the trees. Surely they'll put planters back in when they redesign the sidewalks.
Permit for a construction trailer today and if it's not on site already it will be very soon.
Looks like they will soon be getting busy.
They've been doing demo for a few weeks now, dumpsters on the far west end, inside the yellow metal fencing.
Can't wait for them to open.![]()
