I don't plan on going to a DQ unless someone tells me they make decent Foot-Longs like the ones that Dunn's Dairy Queen used to make.

I don't get it. A fast food chain opens another carbon copy, and it's news? It's "desirable"? Have you ever made a Key Lime pie at home? Ice cream? There's nothing at Dairy Queen, that you can't do better at home. (Well,OK, the steak fingers and gravy would be a huge mess to clean up) but Dairy Queen is not worth all the hubbub in my humble opinion.
    Carry on.

I am a huge fan of their blizzards unfortunately but I recently tried their mushroom and Swiss burger and it was awfully tasty for a fast food joint.

    Same.

DQ is at the bottom of fast food chains I would eat at. Just nasty food. If you want a good burger and excellent ice cream, go to Braums.

We used to have one in Edmond, across the street from Fire Station #1. A lot of the guys would eat over their, uhg, green hot dogs with greasey chili, not my cup of tea. Hopefully the food has gotten better at the new ones. Wonder why they went out 15 yrs ago.

    Oklip,
I think if you go back in this thread you will find the reason they left OKC, but in a nutshell, the Dunn family owned the OKC franchises and when they sold the business, the new owners ended up in bankruptcy. They all closed and that's about it. I could be corrected on the exact details, but I know I'm pretty close to accurate. However, I'm not certain the Edmond store was a Dunn's DQ.

They wouldn't be that great without their blizzards. Hard to make that at home.

I'm guessing this is going between the new child care and the dental depot. There is a spot of the corner right at the red light about the size needed.

Thats the general area that it looks like on the news article posted on the main page.

Have you been to Jack In The Box?

While running around during Christmas shopping season, and being short on time, the wife suggested we hit JITB for something quick since it was right by where we were....

A staunch reminder why I rarely do fast food resturants.

    Yes, I believe that's correct.

There is also now a DQ (Blizzards and other desserts only) now open in the Quail food court.

There's been a lot of preferences stated here, over Braum's, to the point where their reputation is legendary. And there really can't be a dispute over matters of taste -- though we certainly try!

Regardless of how you feel about Braum's or ice cream and so forth done at home, it cannot be disputed that what Dairy Queen offers is, to a great extent, proprietary (just as much Braum's is). And a lot of people, myself included, enjoy Braum's for what it is. What it isn't known for is a certain type of soft-serve ice cream. Dairy Queen does a version of that, and variations thereof, that I enjoy. I join others in welcoming them back after a VERY long time.

We had many choices in Austin and would still pretty much alternate between Amy's and DQ. The same now that we are in Denver, many places to choose from but we have a larger rotation here but DQ is still in the mix. What they offer they do well.

We still wish we had Braum's here but we known that is not in the realm of possibility.

Looks like they started clearing the land for the new quail springs location today. I'll try and snap a picture tomorrow.

When we lived in Cincinnati, we had some great Ice Cream choices, but no one can't make a milkshake as good as Braum's.

"Roughly 27x." LOL Guess I need to try me a Tucker's shake, as I tend to agree with Zorba's feelings about Braum's shakes...
