We are directly across the street from the pick up and drop off site and was very impressed with how smooth their system seemed to work. Even saw the headmaster himself outside shuffling kids. It is really nice to have kids around and walking down the sidewalk past our windows. Seems to liven up the place!

Congrats to the head of the School Joe Pierce and his staff on what looked to be a successful kickoff. Wish my kids were a little younger to be able to take advantage of this great educational opportunity.

    Very cool!

I have to admit I loved seeing all the photos of the kids with their parents walking down the downtown sidewalks.

Funny that you should say that, Jeep. My wife teaches there and said dismissal was a disaster yesterday. Obviously, everything is new, including the drop off, pick up procedures, so it will get better. But, just think, it will get MUCH better than what you saw yesterday!

Also, I have toured the school and it's very very cool. Massive windows in the classrooms that look out into downtown. Very neat experience.

I'm so excited about this place. It's good to know that when I have kids, they will have a great place to go to school.

That's what I was thinking. I guess Harry Potter goes to school there or something.

Did TAP get some new blood? I've been liking their work of late.

I met the Head of School last weekend, he has some great ideas about what direction he'd like to take this school.

I love what I see in that photo. A white-collar, professional parent with obvious confidence in an inner OKC school.

I got a tour of the school from their master teacher Adam Zodrow today (who is doing so many amazing things for the students)... What an amazing space for learning. The school is very wide open with lots of natural light, spaces for collaboration, and even dry-erase walls to write on. There's a cool rooftop space that Adam is going to use for gardening with students. This is what schools should be. So many school buildings are uninviting. If we built more schools like this I think it could help attract more candidates to the teaching profession and show that our society really values education. Who wouldn't want to teach in this room?

    Wow^

Over the next few years this school is going to plant the seeds of engineers, architects, planners, and project managers. These kids will have a front row view of watching several huge construction projects rise from the ground across the street. This is inspiring to me and hopefully tho inspires a generation of kids to keep the momentum going when they are old enough to.

Adam already told me he hopes to use the construction of the new towers as a discussion point for STEM lessons. He doesn't miss opportunities for learning...

John Rex Elementary approved for PPP (not a judgement, just an FYI).

For a K - 8 how does this compare or rank to other public or private schools?

Would you start a kindergartener here or say Deer Creek?

My office manager's daughter goes there and they love it. They are very hands on. They wanted to teach about plants, composting etc so they built a greenhouse out back. The light display at christmas was built by the kids and it is programmed by the kids each year, I think this from their website sums it up....."Our curriculum integrates individualized and project-based learning, ensuring that every student receives personalized support to reach their full potential. Through engaging, hands-on experiences, students are encouraged to solve real-world problems, develop leadership skills, and cultivate a growth mindset."

Caveat....I don't have a child there but I office across the street and I am good friends with the superintendent so get to hear all the happening stuff.
