Dry ice is fun to play with. Have you ever held a piece, with gloves on of course, and rub it on a big cooking pot lid. Screams like a Banshee and annoys the heck out of people. It's fun.

    Crush a Pop Can

    What you'll need
    pop can
heat source (range top or hot plate)
a bowl with cool water, tap is great
    water for can
    tongs or an oven mitt

Put 1 or 2 TBL of water in the can. Heat until the water boils. Vapor will start
spewing out. After about 15 or 20 seconds pick up the can with tongs or mitt and
invert it into the water. The can will suddenly collapse.

The vapor from boiling pushes air out of the can. The vapor condenses causing
a small vacuum. With help from the external high pressure the can collaped.

The can will collapse very quickly and may cause a bit of a surprise shock the
    first time it's done.
