Yes. Talked to a friend yesterday who's in training there. They're doing a three day soft opening. Employees only on the 24th, invited family and friends the 25th and 26th. Then open on the 28th. She also went through the incentives and discounts employees get for good performance. Sounds like they're really dedicated to keeping good employees.

I went to the Main Event in Lubbock a few weeks ago, and it was pretty fun. Let me set the scene: Sunday night. 9:00 p.m. Lubbock, Texas. Not much to do; but, Main Event was open, and there was a fairly substantial crowd. We ended up bowling for an hour and a half. This will be a great addition to OKC.

Took the kids there last night, had a lot of fun. We bowled for about an hour and half, played some pool and did the ropes course. Didn't play any video games or play laser tag as the wait was too long and we had to get home. I was thinking there was going to be mini-golf as well, but there's not. Really cool place with lots of TV's around so a cool place to go watch sports. Lots of people there, good mix of grown-ups and kids. Will definitely go back.

    Thanks for the review.

I'm sure this place is going to kill it. Perfect location for them.

Man we had a blast at my wife's holiday party for work. We were there for about 6 hours total on Friday.

We bowled three games. Really nice lanes with updated technology so you can take your picture and it puts it into the screen when you bowl. Shows funny videos as well.

I played laser tag three times. The guns are nice and have two different shooting types, blaster and phaser. The inside is two levels and a bit small but fun. There are special areas you can shoot and get "power ups". My wife won twice beating all 15 other players. I'm not sure how she is so good... The price is $8 per play at night if you are paying out of pocket.

We had lunch catered in a buffet style by Main Event. The food was really good and much better than what I was expecting! Some grilled chicken, grilled veggies, rice, two salads and some ravioli that was excellent.

We played quite a bit of arcade games and they have a lot of fun ones. Don't expect to get a ton of tickets without putting down some cash. We were each given $40 playing cards and didn't have many tickets when we finished.

Overall we checked out the menu and the food looked good and not too pricey. The drink specials were not too expensive but I don't know how good they are as we did not have any.

I would go again. Like every weekend. Why am I moving to Norman?

Is this more for adults like Dave & Busters? Or is it good family fun for kids, 8yr & 5yr old, also?

Honestly I think it is fine for both.

We went here last Friday night. I was hoping with the wet and cold weather it wouldn't be crowded, but I was mistaken. It was packed. My wife and I had six kids with us and with playing from about 7:00pm to midnight, and food/drinks, we dropped about $200. I don't think that's bad at all. We took full advantage of the all-you-can-play "Fun pass" ($17.95 each) that lets you do unlimited activities for one price (except arcade games). We bowled 5 or 6 games, played several rounds of laser tag, and the kids did the gravity ropes a bunch of times and had a lot of fun in the arcade. As noted above, there are TVs everywhere, and on each lane they had the Thunder game projected on the lane screens. The bar was crowded and the pool tables were full all night. We ate a few slices at the little pizza place and it was pretty good.

    To break it down:
Bowling - great lanes, very nice facility. When you get a lane, you have 60 minutes to bowl as much as you like. At the end of your time, your game ends, regardless of what frame you're on. There was about a 90 minute wait for a lane the entire night. Pro tip: If you're inclined to, at about halfway through your session, go get signed up for another lane so you don't wait so long.

Laser tag - Really fun and uses great equipment. The game was a little short and with such a busy night, the arena seemed kind of small. It did make for some frenzied and chaotic games though.

Gravity ropes - I didn't personally do this as it seemed a little boring, but the kids (12yrs to 15yrs) loved it and couldn't get enough of it.

Arcade - Really good quality games, but not as much to choose from as a Dave and Busters. A bit pricey on the games ($1.50 per game or more). Its nice that the tickets you win are applied to your game card so you don't have to carry around buckets of paper tickets.

La Belle Pizza - Good pizza, but I have a few gripes. They didn't have much pizza available on their by-the-slice option when we checked in (a couple of different times). It took way too long to get pizza and the guy behind the counter acted like I was inconveniencing him by asking when we could expect more pizza to become available.

Overall the facilities are very nice and everything it brand new and clean (as it should be). We will be back - my son is asking to have a birthday party with friends there in the spring.

Thanks so much for the detailed report.

Not surprised the place is doing so well. Fills a pretty big need in that area and they clearly have good opertions.

  17. Default Re: Main Event

Some of their operation is good. Some not so much. My son-in-law and I have been there probably 20 times since they opened. Sometimes with wives and sometimes not. We shoot pool about 90 percent of our time there. The food and drink service at the bar tables and billiards area is somewhere between horrible and simply nonexistent. And I'm not talking about once, I'm talking about every time. We gave up on ever being served after a few visits and now we just go to the bar and order everything there. They constantly run out of drink glassware and food dishes because they don't seem to ever bus tables. Not once have we been there that at some point they didn't run out of beer glasses.

One day last week my son-in-law got there a few minutes before me. When I got there about 5:00PM he pointed out that every single table in the bar area had dishes on them. Then he had me go look at the receipts people had left for the time stamp. One receipt was from 10:40AM! The latest one was from 1:45PM. Every once in a while an employee would go around and collect one specific type of glass or dish that they must have ran out of. When we left at about 9:00 all of the tables still had some dishes from hours before. Both at tables and at the bar I have seen a total of at least 50 customers sit down then wait for way too long for someone to even acknowledge them then give up and leave.

Most receipts have an offer for a $10 FunCard if you do an online survey. At the end of the survey you write a code on the receipt and take it in to redeem. One night I went to the main desk to redeem the receipt and was told that they redeemed them at the bar. I knew that was wrong because I know of others that went to the desk. But the desk attendant was adamant. So I went to the front kiosk and talked to the guy there. He had no idea that they did surveys but he would go find a manager. He walked off presumably to find a manager. I waited probably 15 minutes and never saw him again.

And an issue only for only us drinkers. The servers/bartenders have no idea what the beer and drink prices are. Most places have one price for "domestic" beers and another for "premium" beers. Like $4.50 for dom and $6.00 for prem. Similar system for mixed drinks. They seem to have many different prices and the only way to determine a price is to ring one up and see what the computer says.

I gave them a break for the first couple of weeks for being new. But they aren't getting better, they're getting worse. I also know two servers that went to Main Event from other places we frequent. Both have left due to "Complete chaos" (their words) and no management support for employees that want to make things work better.

We'll keep going because the pool tables are, at least for now, some of the best in town. We've just lowered our expectations greatly so we are happy with what we get.

Based on that last review, I can't see me even bothering to check the place out as a guest of someone else. If FOH is that much a mess, I'd never trust anything out of the kitchen. I can shoot pool and imbibe if I choose to do so way, way closer to home. Some of the places may be a bit of a dump, but at their worst they've never been as bad as described here.

Luck to them, but based on what's listed here, not via my dime or time.

Was by there last night about 11 pm and the parking lot looked PACKED. They must be doing something right.

SoonerSoftail has a good point. Like I said, the attitude from the staff at the pizza place ranged between indifferent and annoyed resignation. I didn't go to the bar or the restaurant, but the waitstaff in the bowling area was slow to non-existent. I think they were covering both the bowling area as well as the bar with the same people. Fortunately, I had already eaten and had a drink in hand when I went to bowl, but it took nearly a whole round of bowling for a 3-drink soda order to come out. When it came time to pay, I literally had to track down the girl who created the ticket to settle up. If I'm in the restaurant or bar and that happens, I'd be discussing that with a manager.

Sounds like they have been overwhelmed.

Give them some time to get the kinks out.

I dunno Pete. When tables sit dirty for 3-6+ hours, well, except for specific dishware cleared when they perhaps ran out completely, that seems more than a few kinks. That seems more a systemic failure. I wouldn't go all lung bursting Jon Tapper on them, but I don't regret it the least a decision to not contribute to their existing issues. Their circus. Their monkey.

Went on Friday afternoon. Got there about 2pm and were told we could not do anything bc the morning session had sold out. I am not sure if it is just the way they are doing holiday hours or new opening hours, but it was weird. So the morning pass lasted from 11am-4pm. Those people could do any of the bowling, laser tag and ropes course they wanted. (Arcade games are separate). Once 4pm hit, then their bracelets became invalid and they had to leave. This made room for the night visitors. 4pm-11pm. Get a bracelet for $17.95 and you could do as much as you want. However, they do not take reservations or put names on a list or allow you to prepay or anything. We went back up there at 3:30 and just had to wait in line until 4. Good thing we got there at 3:30 and were one of the first in line because by 4:10, the line was to the front door (probably 100 deep). It just sucks if you are coming from Enid or Stillwater or something and would not know this, then you could really be screwed with the time allotted in your day. As said before, you only get 1 hour on the bowling lane if there is a list. They do have 26 lanes though, but there was a list all afternoon while we were there. We ordered a pretzel, it was really big but just average. Saw a couple other people's orders and their food just looked so so. I don't think anyone is going there for the food though. They will have something if you are hungry, but I was happy I ate Freebirds beforehand. Pro Tip: Get on all the list for laser tag, bowling and the ropes course when you get there. You can not just walk up to laser tag and say you want the next game. We tried to after bowling and had to wait an hour and a half. We played pool and shuffleboard to pass the time. They did a great job with the TV setup. The place will be a smashing success, just wish they would have gone with the bigger model and added a climbing wall and mini golf.

(if you are only looking for arcade games then Dave&Busters is your better option)

Yeah, as a huge arcade guy, I learned quickly when I went that D&B is the better option. It's much more expensive at Main Event and the prizes aren't as good either.

I will probably go to bowl though from time to time.
