Thread: OKC Thunder 2014 - 2015

The 4th quarter is when we've traditionally become our most ISO heavy, and Russell doesn't have the skill-set to dependably take over a game by himself in the 4th, that's to say there are enough effective ways for a defense to limit his abilities and force other players to win the game…many times, it doesn't matter what you try, KD will put the ball in the basket. OKC has largely relied on using that, and Russ has been afforded opportunities from KD's presence he will not be afforded these next 6 weeks.

If nothing else, this will be a chance for the entire team, more so than when Russ was out of the lineup, to learn how to play effectively late in the game.

I actually thought last night was a bit discouraging. Perry Jones, Adams, and Ibaka all played poorly. It may be time to start questioning whether Perry Jones is an NBA player. This is his third season and he looked absolutely lost on both ends of the floor. I'm confident Adams and Ibaka will play better, but I'm worried Jones just doesn't have it. Russ isn't going to play much better than last night. He was fantastic, but we aren't winning many games until we get some guys back. Telfair was really bad. It was only one game though.

Having said that, I really liked what I saw out of Roberson. Hopefully, he will be a good compliment to our other guys when they're healthy.

Tonight could really be a blood bath. We eliminated the Clippers and this is their new owners' first game. It could get ugly really quick.

Perry Jones got crossed up twice and fell down. He looks lost with no confidence. That is a bad recipe for trying to stick on a roster.

First game, let's not hit the panic button.

Perry Jones: Let's hope that more playing time (something he didn't get last season) gets him ready. Jones has been asked to step up his game like everyone else on the roster.

We had 'high hopes' for this season until all the injuries overwhelmed our team. Perry Jones needs more time...

I mean, you can't not be discouraged by PJIII, Telfair played like **** too, but he's new.

PJIII has about 4 weeks to put it together or I think he's done for the Thunder.

Considering they already picked up his option for next year guarenteed I think he has more than 4 weeks

I don't mean he'll be cut or immediately traded. But if he can't put together some consistent production, I get the sense that he's going to see as much playing time as Hasheem Thabeet did last season. When I say done for the Thunder, I mean excluded from the long-term picture.

    Thunder Re: OKC Thunder 2014 - 2015

One game played with 81 left in the regular season; the worse scenario you could wish upon any NBA team (multiple player injuries). It's early to start predictions about a team that only suited up nine players for first game which was on the road in one of the NBA's most intimidating environments.

Let's get to the 'All Star Game' when our injured players begin their return.

What's left of this team; they will have a challenge like the new born wilderbeest; they must spring into journey--become apart of the flock or become preyed upon by the lions, hyenas and crocodiles.

    Go Thunder!

Considering 4 out of the Thunder's best 6 players weren't playing last night, I thought they did rather well up until the 4th quarter. When Lance Thomas outscores Serge Ibaka, you aren't going to win.

Did we tick off some voodoo woman or something?

Evidently, since Westbrook hurt his hand tonight also.

    PJIII tonight: 41.7, 10-17, 3-6, 9-11, 1/6 for 7, 3 AST, 3 PFs, 5 TOs, 1 BS, 32 Pts

    Durant MVP season averages: 38.5, 10.5-20.8, 2.4-6.1, 8.7-9.9, 0.7/6.7 for 7.4, 5.5 AST, 2.1 PFs, 3.5 TOS, 1 BS, 32 Pts

…Clippers aren't great by any means defensively…but that shows how underwhelming he has been. The are plenty of NBA players who just simply don't have the ability to put that kind of game together.

I'm in shock at the injury Ebola we seem to have caught and also sad.

Good news: Perry looked fantastic tonight.

Bad news: Russ has a fractured hand and is probably out a month or two. Absolutely unreal.

I've never seen a team decimated by injuries like this team in any sport. There is a very real possibility that this team will fall so far back in the standings that we won't be able to make the playoffs. Ugh.

Reggie wants to be a starter, looks like he will have at least a full month to showcase his abilities.

I almost felt like crying at work this morning.

Well the Thunder could be the best 8th seed in a long time? Here is to hoping!

The Thunder could have a pretty rough 0-20 run here. Might even miss the playoffs if Westbrook is out the full 12 weeks. Remember Kevin Love had a similar injury and almost missed a whole season with discomfort.

So which one is more frustrating?

Watching the Thunder have to play with a bunch of bums.......

.......Or the fact that that group of bums plays well enough to "almost" win?

*to avoid any butthurt....I don't really think these guys are bums.

Where is 12 weeks coming from?? I've heard 4 to 6 weeks...

The good news: best time to go to home games cause I guarantee you people will want to sell their tickets for games that both Westbrook & Durant are not playing in. I'm taking advantage of that situation.

Based it on previous injuries of this nature.

The first of this season feels like the team and fans are being punished for being enthusiastic. A dome of highly bad luck has centered over OKC.

A bad situation, but I will say I thought Brooks was great last night. Inside Audio Assist: Scott Brooks | NBA.com

I remember it being slightly longer in the broadcast, but that little speech got me fired up. Kinda wanted to go shoot some threes and beat up Matt Barnes myself even though it was past 11PM on a school night.

Here's a nice breakdown of the elevator screen play that got Serge the open three with about 2 minutes left: Watch Scott Brooks draw up a creative set play - SBNation.com

    Thunder Re: OKC Thunder 2014 - 2015

Impressed with what's left of the team; especially after Westbrook went down and the Thunder roared back.

We are down now, but the feel is that once these injured player return, the Thunder will have a complete team that will provide the much needed help for our core players Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka & Adams.

Lord please, no more injuries--give us a break, I don't know if our fan base can bear much more...
