I was thinking about what what would be the most amazing news in OKC development and came up with this:

Bauer & Schmidt Announce Massive Development on Oklahoma River

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – German based developer Bauer & Schmidt, Inc. have announced plans for a massive mixed use development in Oklahoma City near the northern bank of the Oklahoma River. Plans include a single 1,889 foot tower, making it the tallest building in North America, surpassing One World Trade center at a height of 1,776 feet. “Our central goal is building collaborative relations with local stakeholders while combining the needs of our partners and investors,” said Niklas Bauer, CEO. The development combines several projects rumored to be planned for the Oklahoma City area and consolidates them into one massive development. The development will be centered on 11 acres under contract from Producers Cooperative Oil Mill. Renderings indicate the building will consist of a 8 floor 264’ x 900’ base consisting of common lobby, 2 floors of retail, 1 floor of space for a higher education cooperative with the Oklahoma State Regents and the remaining dedicated to Class A office space. Access to the 102 floor tower section will be segregated within the base. “We wanted to create a single project with the feel of individual projects in order to customize the finish and security for each of major tenants,” said Bauer. From the west lobby, guests of the Marriott will be able to check in and access elevators to floors 11 through 32. Continental Resources will occupy floors 33 through 82 accessible through the east side secured entrance while residents of condos on floors 83 through 107 will have access from the north through a separate and secured entrance. The top three floors are reserved for an observation deck and restaurant. “This is a win-win for Continental and Oklahoma City as we will be a major partner in an iconic building at a significantly lower cost than building independently,” said Harold Hamm, Continental Resources CEO. The height of 1,889 feet is a tribute to the people nicknamed the 89ers, those participating in the land run on April 22, 1989. The naming of the tower is scheduled to be announced at the groundbreaking on April 22, 2016 with a completion date of winter 2018.

My idea is a bit more down to earth. Land at 33rd and I-35 in Edmond sells, buyer to build a Costco with some nice resturants around it. Senior patio homes to form a buffer between existing neighborhood. Bike trails to connect in with planned bike trails. Equestrian trails to be added to walking/bike trails for those who would rather use 4 legs instead of 2 legs or wheels.

I don't understand why the thread is called Fantasy Development News. Should the thread be renamed "Fantasy Development Ideas" and moved to a different forum?

So are we just allowed to make up a development or infrastructure improvement we'd like to see and format it as if it were an actual news story?

As long as the Daily Oklahoman is able to name their website newsok.com I don't have any problem with this being identified as "news".

Even as a fantasy, not sure about an office/residential tower that tall in OKC, but an observation tower at 1889 ft would be a few feet taller than the CN tower in Toronto. A great tribute to the Land Run and would surely make Dallas jealous. It would be great on the Co-op site.
