Thread: Tulsa "In the Loop" almost exact copy of our Skyline Snapshot

Default Tulsa "In the Loop" almost exact copy of our Skyline Snapshot

This is their first quarterly PDF:

How is it that this is almost a mirror image of what Kim Searls does for Downtownokc.com?

I suppose imitation is the sincerist form of flattery, but it just demonstrates how leaders in Tulsa look to OKC for their ideas.

If you read through that, they took a lot of ideas from us.

Call me anti-Tulsa but I really didn't see anything in that Tulsa report that just really wowed me. I did notice it was more spread out than OKC's downtown report, I would really like the OKC report to be more indepth to cover all of OKC. Break it down into sections of the city. But I still think OKCs projects are just way better thought out and way better arcitecturally.

To be fair to Tulsa (I'm from there), they're just kicking these kinds of projects off. It will take time for them to mature to the level of OKC's projects. Keep in mind that Tulsa is a somewhat smaller city!

    OH MY GOSH!!!!!

At least they could have altered the format! I guess we should be flattered.

Tulsa has some nice redevelopment goin' on. BOK Center will be a beaut. But man, could they be more obvious of their newsletter's inspiration?
    Continue the Renaissance

    Why reinvent the wheel?

(Kim, send 'em a bill for consulting.)

Downtownokc.com... that's a great website, how have I never heard about it before.

My money says this person benefited from sitting next to a smart guy in high school.

For a city that insists that it's not merely following in the footsteps of OKC, it's interesting how they seem to take everything we do and try and duplicate it, albeit 5-10 years later.

True, but to be fair, there are several cities to the south of us that say the same thing about OKC.

I think the difference is that OKC leaders will admit we are trying to copy San Antonio's riverwalk or Dallas' West End.

There is no shame in trying to duplicate success as long as you give credit where credit is due.

Step up OKC! I hope the new convention center they build in the Core to Shor project will be as moder as the BOK Center. Tulsa is getting closer to OKC. What do you think?

Chill out, in some publicity I saw they cite the Skyline Snapshot as a source of inspiration. SS is a great idea, I'm glad the Tulsa equivalent of DTOKC is undertaking a similar publication to raise awareness of the urban movement in Oklahoma.

I could be exaggerating just a bit. It would just kill me to see Tulsa pass OKC. I like Tulsa and all and want to see it grow as much as it can. I just like the place where I live more and want it to be the best.
