Default Car-Free City: China Builds Dense Metropolis from Scratch

Not sure if this is the right spot or if it's been posted before but this is cool.

No this forum is for development related to OKC. Maybe current events forum. I'm sure Pete or M will move it though.

I was just going to post something similar. In one city (Shenzen?) something like 75% of condos are empty and at least one newly built mall was 97% vacant. Its really all an illusion.

I think China is in for one ugly property correction once the Commies run out of smoke and mirror tricks for their RE market, and the world will suffer for it.

What sort of surprises me is this...

Chicago architecture firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture say the city will use 48% less energy and 58% less water than a more conventional city of the same size; it will also produce 89% less landfill waste and generate 60% less carbon dioxide.
I would have expected a more significant change. I'm also curious about the 89% reduction in landfill waste, and what designs of a city can cause that type of reduction.

That's interesting, because there was a 60 Minutes segment on it just a few weeks ago.
