That's just sad.
Embarrassingly funny.
How can they be so ignorant? Not very bright those students are...
Wow.... I saw last night on FB news article about a fatality wreck that occurred on I35 and some posts were made by OSU fans that were despicable.
Some young folk of less than stellar judgment can nonetheless enroll in public, and even private, universities.
Let's try not to be too terribly shocked when they decide it necessary to prove this is so.
Meh. Shocker... super small percentage of fans are stupid fans. At every university. But I guess this will make someone who couldn't get accepted into other schools feel better.
Florida State got some questionable breaks...

OSU student apologizes for 'Trail of Tears' College GameDay banner | NewsOK.com
A truly heartfelt apology.
“Though we did not set out to hurt or offend anyone when we made our banner, I see that it did just that. Referencing the Trail of Tears in such a flippant and disrespectful manner was insensitive and wrong, and I make no defense for our having had such a lapse in judgment. I apologize for our mistake. I am truly sorry.
“To all Native Americans: I hope you can and will forgive me for diminishing a part of your history that should never be made light of. I pledge that I will invest diligent study reacquainting myself with the horrors of Trail of Tears so I don’t repeat the mistake I made today.
“Words cannot fully express my sorrow and shame. While you certainly don’t owe it to me, I ask for your forgiveness.”
We all have made stupid mistakes when we were younger and fortunately for most of us on here, there wasn't social media and instant distribution of footage of our mistakes. Part of college is growing up and sounds like this young man has done some of that this weekend. His apology sounds sincere and he has stood up and taken responsibility for his actions.
(In case someone thinks that I am just another osu fan standing up for my team.....I'm an ou grad and fan. It could have easily been one of our young students doing something similar)
I'm certain that the vast majority of OSU looked down on their actions and did not condone them. Please don't hold something like that over an entire fanbase. I'm already dreading the season on this website.
Yeah, that apology was first-rate. The cynic in me wonders if it was written by a professional PR person, but either way it was well done. That apology is what everyone hopes for - and rarely if ever sees - every time a celebrity or politician steps in it publicly.
One thing I find interesting about American culture is how easily offended people get here. It was a dumb thing to write and it clearly wasn't thought out.....but does it call for outrage? People make ignorant comments around the world but everyone ignores it, realizes the person is an idiot and moves on.
I think that one literally hit close to home for a lot of Oklahomans. It was especially dumb. Like bombing jokes (and yeah, those have happened too).
Thanks for calling this to my attention Ijbab723:
Initially thought this was in reference to the game officials...
OSU officials quickly got ahead of this scene with a genuine apology.
Replayed the recording of the news late last night; didn't realize the banner about the 'Trail of Tears' reference to the FSU Seminoles displayed by a some OSU fans was the center of controversy that led to the creation of this thread. Behavior of this nature is sensitive & offensive; therefore it can not be defended nor should all OSU fans be condemned for the actions of this group.
Football fans taunt one another at times. We need to learn as adults to know how far you take this with people you know; especially the ones you don't know.

Makes you wonder if they still teach history of any kind in junior high or high school since there is so much focus on math and science....or if students retain anything anymore with the test and purge culture of schools.
