The construction fence appears to be going up!
The construction fence is up and there are now stakes on the site. they continue to move forward on the project.
I was told yesterday that they don't expect their first tenants to be open until after the first of the year.
Wow.....
Well so much for enjoying the crisp fall weather that is still warm enough to be outside, especially for the dog park/bar/mule -- whatever it is.
They have had complications with the permits / construction plans.
And it's not just a simple matter of stacking up containers then flipping a switch... There will be foundations, paving, utilities and tenant finish out.
Keep in mind this is not a one container per tenant situation. The restaurant / bar will span at least three containers, have a full kitchen, etc.
I have detailed plans I can post later that will better illustrate the complexity.
My company ran into the same complications with permitting on a pre-fabricated building that we were going to use for offices. It took us seven months and a lot of extra expenses to get it approved. The city is very strict when you try to put these type of buildings up in densely populated area. Don't forget that we live in tornado alley, and these types of buildings can turn into missiles in the right weather conditions.
Seems this concept is spreading all over.'Pawn Stars' TV Star Plans Stores Near Famous Shop - ABC News
They *finally* had their building permit issued yesterday, so real work should be starting very soon.
There are a bunch of containers sitting in a yard off of W. Sheridan past Western, near the eastern terminus for the new Boulevard approach to downtown. They are all white, but have openings cut into them in several places. I've been wondering if these were the containers for this project.
Looks like they're getting ready to pour soon.
They are really hustling on this now. Workers staying until about 6 at night and they were already hard at work when I looked out my window at 6:45 this morning.
Looks like OKSea is going to give us a legit stairway over the unused railroad.

Any pics of the construction?
