Good to hear.. before the expansion many times they wouldn't have Papusas until after 4.. glad they had them at lunch!

A couple of us OKC Talker's went there Friday night. They were still in "soft opening" mode but the food was awesome and the atmosphere a perfect addition to the Plaza. We hung out on the patio. The sound system was good and the renovation done with care.

I had the Pollo la Crema. It was great. Will email Pete some pics.

I was there for lunch yesterday too and I could see some improvements over when I was there for their first day of the soft opening.

Can't wait until they roll out the full menu.

It really is a perfect addition to the Plaza District. I should say "re-addition" since they have simply shifted from a back room Guatemalan diner to a street fronting promenade.

They also had a great selection of Mexican, Spanish, and Guatemalan beers that you won't find at Saints, The Mule, or Empire. Quite frankly, beers I haven't seen at other logical restaurants with such food.

This all sounds awesome. And something truly unique.

I have to say one of the biggest improvements I noticed from their opening day to yesterday was in the horchata...... The first day it was a little bland but yesterday I would rate it up there with some of the best I have had in Oklahoma City.

Yesterday I was also served some queso and black bean dip that we weren't served the first day. The black bean dip was a little thicker than I like and the queso a little watery but both had decent flavor.

The cup of chicken soup you get with the setup is nice too.... I don't eat much soup in the summer months but I'm tempted to give their caldo de res a try on my next visit.

They just posted on Facebook that they are now open until 2AM; probably just the weekends but still, that's good news.

That is GREAT news!.. I have said many times that the Plaza needs a late eats place.. like a Mangnolia ( in austin ) that is 24 hour good breakfast food ( not ihop)

The Mule is open until midnight Monday through Wednesday and 2am Thrusday through Saturday. Urban Wineworks is open until 10pm Wednesday and Thursday, midnight on Friday and Saturday and 8pm on Sunday. Saints is open until 2am every day of the week. Empire Slice House is open until 2am every day. Pie Junkie is open until 7pm Tuesday through Thursday and on Sundays in the summer and 9pm on Friday and Saturday. At least that is what is advertised on their respective websites. I am sure they close earlier if there isn't much of a crowd. When Roxy's and Oak and Ore open, I see them staying open until midnight at least as well. Has the Plaza district done a pub crawl yet? I would think that would be a huge draw.

Not to hijack this thread, but Urban Wineworks is actually closed currently for remodeling. They have not announced a new open date in the Fall.

Pie junkies hous seem to change at a whim. I hardly even plan to go there anymore because everytime I do its closed. they really need expanded hours. I do hope Chiltepes kitchen is open late!. but I still think a 24 hours cool Breakfast spot would do great in the plaza. I would take either A Magnolias ( I know I mentioned it before but I love it) and my favorite 24 hours spot in Dallas Cafe Brazil. either one.. if I had the money i'd do my best to make it happen.

I agree. I have talked to my wife a lot about a breakfast place opening in the area and she agrees it would do well not just because of the people who work in the area but the people who live in the area. Of course, their main competition would be the Jimmy's Egg a mile west. Not sure if that is taken in to account when deciding on it.

True that would be main competition. however Jimmy's egg doesn't have late night hours. 24 hour spot would kill in my opinion. when the bars close in Plaza I would think it would be very busy. especially if it was a quality spot with great food and coffee

Agreed. Hopefully we can see something like this can open whenever the Plaza Discount store decides it doesn't want to pay Steve Mason's higher rates any more.

My husband and I had dinner there on Tuesday. I had one of the vegetarian dishes they offer. It was quite good and I thought the service was good as well. It was definitely different than anything I have ever had. It is hard for me to believe this is the same building that housed the convenience store before the renovation. I wish them every success.
