OK, you've got me. I normally don't eat chicken (there's a reason they call it "Foul"), but the sauce looks good. But what do you mean "(cover surface two or three times and mix in)"? Pepper is my weakness and plenty of fresh ground pepper sounds good, just not sure what "surface" you are referring to.

I've been to Raising Cane's a couple of times and really liked it too! While I thought that $7.00 for three strips, some fries and a drink was just a little bit "spendy" it was certainly good, so maybe the price was actually quite fair.

Here's a recipe for one of the ("top secret") highlights of the dining experience:

1⁄2 cup mayonnaise
1⁄4 cup ketchup
1⁄2 tablespoon garlic powder
1⁄2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Generous amount of black pepper (cover surface two or three times and mix in)

Combine all ingredients. It will start to look and taste right as you blend them together, but it is best to let the sauce sit for a few hours before serving.

I would probably add some sort of "Cajun" seasoning and some Louisiana Hot Sauce to the mix even if that might render it inauthentic.

You said that you don't normally eat chicken . . . this is difficult to imagine.
Do you absorb it through your skin, like, with osmosis?
Or do you eat it with your eyes (like all the food articles say people "eat first with")? =)

Frankly, I don't see a lot of difference in the phrasing . . . =)
Yet . . . Just because I can't see it on account of thinking "Raising Cain's" is a cut above yer average Culinary Greasatorium (in the OldeNewz) don't mean their way of doin' chicken ain't good. In fact, it's pretty fair fowl . . . =)

The sauce (above) makes up for the long lines at the soft drink dispenser caused by patrons o' the place "drinking to it only with their eyes."
In a fairly devious manner, if the truth be told . . . =)

Raising Cane's Aimin' t' Please Associate (dumping a quart of the sauce over a piece of stray lettuce she picked up off the sparkling floor and placed on the piece of paper constituting a "menu"): "Have you tried this?"

Short Version: If yer lookin' fer some pretty darn good chicken strips, you could do a lot worse than Raising Cain's. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. =)

Upon further review, I could be mistaken. Regardless, I'm sure Cane's is good as far as chicken is concerned and I'm not a chicken fan. Now "hot wings", that's a different story. The atomic at Wingstop are my favorite with their cajun a close second. I will have to try Cane's though especially since that's what this thread is about. By the way, maybe the two tall beers I had at Louie's was my problem because it all seemed so logical when I wrote my response.

I went to Canes for the first time yesterday. Chicken strips were as good as they come. Fries were run-of-the-mill OreIda style crinkle. The bread, which I reluctantly ate, incrementally, was quite good. But I'm like, why the heck is there bread? All this just under $7. For the fat and carb fixes, though, it's not likely I'll go back.

This is now confirmed. Building permits issued and dirtwork on the site has started.

Its slower because its cooked fresh, not sitting around under a heat lamp.

After all this time, I finally went to Raising Cane's. And I have to admit the sauce is pretty good. If it wasn't for the sauce, I couldn't have eaten the chicken. Admittedly, it was fresh, moist, and cooked while we waited, and the French fries were good but the chicken had no taste, none. So, I know most of you enjoy it and I'm glad you do, but the frozen chicken strips I buy from Blue and Gold Sausage Company (the company out of Jones, Ok., that makes things for organizations to sell, no retail) taste much better. If only they were fresh and as moist. Just not my cup of tea.

I agree 100 percent. We.tried it about 3 months ago at another location and i was not impressed. Don't get me wrong it was fresh, piping hot but didn't have much flavor. We haven't been back an don't plan on it. I would rather have blue and gold, love their chicken strips and sausage.

Maybe it was just way to hyped here in okc. Everyone kept on talking about it and every few months a new location was added...but I just kinda felt Ho - hum after we finally tried it.

Good service model, friendly employees...just needed more flavor and variety besides all fried food.

But obviously they are doing well for themselves.

I've only been there a couple of times and I thought it was pretty good.
The only thing I thought was a bit off was the price for what you got.
I particularly liked the sauce, even if I know it is something incredibly easy to duplicate.
I haven't been back only because I've nearly eliminated fried food with a batter crust from my diet.
(well . . . that, and the "spendiness" for three chicken tenders, some fries and a drink.)

I ate at Cane's for the first time last week. Food was OK but I thought the chicken strips were extremely small. Got the 3 piece and it wasn't much chicken. Got lots of fries though and they were hot and fresh. Wasn't real impressed with the dipping sauce that is supposed to be all the rage. Would of rather had some honey mustard like they have at Chilis.

While I was eating, an employee was cleaning some tables and got freaked out by a small bug crawling on the floor. She got the manager who scooped it up on a piece of paper and tossed it out the door. The manager then came by my table and said he hoped the bug did not ruin my dining experience. I laughed and told him no. I should have told him that the small chicken strips did though.

I had a similar reaction, ok but not something I would go out of my way for, though with one very near my office I probably will go once in a while when I want something other than the usual restaurants I go to.

CT, I love Blue & Gold, and always look forward to when I can buy some. We usually buy 4 or 5 bags when we can. In Edmond, Cains is right across the street from Chick Fil A, and I'll always choose the latter every time.

I realized early on that it was the sauce I loved ( almost addictive) and not anything esle.. it was fresh and moist but no flavor or seasoning. so my solution is the same solution I had with chic-fila ( I liked the sauce but not the politics).. I made my own.. I have bottles of Cains Sauce and Chick -Fila sauce in my fridge now.
