    Default Rooftop Bars in OKC

    Hey all,

Wasn't sure if this was the right forum for this vs. the Restaurants subforum, but here goes. I had the late idea to have my birthday at a rooftop bar in OKC (we're coming from Norman) to enjoy the summertime weather and views. What places do you all suggest? So far everything seems to point toward the bar above Cafe do Brazil or Packerd's but I've never been to either place (I plan on checking out potential places this afternoon/evening). I searched and found posts over the years about outdoor spaces but many seemed to be those reserved by big private events rather than just a simple lounge/bar. My main concern is that we'll potentially be a fairly large group of people (a very rough estimate of 10-15?) and from what I can gather a lot of the bars are more like restaurants in that there are a limited number of tables available. Having never been to a place like that, I don't know if that'd be an issue or if all I'd need is a reservation, etc. I'm also unsure if people in the group would be interested in grabbing dinner as well, though that may be a possibility. The only other consideration is for it not to be TOO pricey (we are grad students, after all, lol) which is why I excluded places like Vast right off the bat. Thanks in advance!

O Bar at the Ambassador is nice, but expensive and somewhat small.

I would highly recommend Packard's. It's a great setting and quite large. Not too expensive unless you order fancy drinks.

Another option would be the top-level WXYZ bar at the Aloft.

And don't dismiss the Flint patio. Even though it's not a rooftop it has fantastic views of the Myriad Gardens, Devon Tower, etc.

The George (atop the Founders Tower) has fantastic views but might be a bit too spendy.

Don't think any of these places take reservations for the bar areas; would advise just to arrive early and stake out an area.

    Good luck!

The Pink Cadillac in Bricktown has a rooftop bar, with a very limited (snack type) food menu.

Thanks! That definitely gives me a few more places to check out. Being up in OKC much more often than most of my friends this is my opportunity to take them all to one of the hidden gems the city has to offer.

After checking out Cafe do Brasil, Packard's and XYZ we are going to XYZ (which they said just opened last night?). Awesome place, awesome views, and surprisingly affordable drinks. Can't wait!

FWIW, other than a come one, come all buffet format, I really can't think of anywhere I'd pop up with a group larger than six w/o doing some form of an advanced head's up.

I don't usually travel in packs though, and that might be the reason I do things the way I do. Well, that, and Mama taught me to way back when.

I'll go ahead, and cement this as a 2nd vote. Its been in my regular rotation for a few months now..starting during the NBA playoffs. Great place, great atmosphere, Phenomenal views, and good prices. They've been open since late April-early May.

I've been to the XYZ clubs in other Aloft hotels around the country. I've always liked them. Is the one here like all the others?

It's a small thing but the name is W XYZ, not XYZ.

Since you've been going a bunch -- how crowded does it get? I have quite a large group looking to go (more than I'd anticipated) and I saw the occupancy limit was I think 85, so I was just wondering if you've ever seen it get close to that?

Cafe Do Brazil's happy hour specials at their bar are amazingly good (and cheap).
