Thread: Electronic Parts

    Default Electronic Parts

I'm in search of a local supplier for small quantity electronics parts--resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, etc.--with an inventory beyond that radio shack sells.

    Any suggestions?

Its been forever since I visited there, and they may be gone, but I remember going to a fairly big electronic parts supplier in downtown over a bit west of the OKC jail, on the west side of the street, but blast me if I can remember the name. Pretty sure that's the kind of place you're looking for - I bought some diodes and seven-seg LED's for a project that ended up being over my head

    Synergy Datacom?

From the location SoonerDave has to be thinking about Synergy. They've gone to mostly data and communications stuff. They still have some component type stuff but very little. I don't know of anyone else local. I always end up ordering from Mouser, Carlton-Bates, etc.

Yeah, me too and it is awfully hard to justify a $20 order for a $.20 part. Although, I generally spend $20 at synergy on impulse purchases, but that's immediate gratification, not 3-5 business days for delivery.

It's hard to find any of that type stuff locally, I can't remember what Synergy was called before but that was the place for parts. I have gone to ordering from Parts Express and some other online places. When I was in Austin Fry's and Altex carried some of those parts.

Synergy was Radio Supply. I get my stuff from Digi-Key.

You might try Petra industries in Edmond. I'm not sure exactly what all they offer in regards to parts and pieces, but I do know they are one of the largest electronics distributors in the United States. I know that this is where most electronic stores across the country buy all of their product. (Amazon, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Frye's etc...)

Petra doesn't sell resistors/capacitors etc. They sell accessories/small electronics.
There is nowhere in the metro that sells electronic components except for radio shack
Unfortunately the electronics repair industry is basically dead
