I think the uproar or whatever will die down. As long as they keep a reasonable separation, it's a nonissue.

I really think the card system they've come up with his pretty good. I know people are throwing a hissy fit that people COULD be leaving there buzzed with a firearm in the vehicle, but guess what, those same people are probably carrying in their vehicles 24/7, so nothing has really changed.

Ha. I wonder what it would be like if all public policy considered what people are going to do anyway and just allow it.

But I am pretty sure that if they get in their car with a firearm after drinking, especially if they drive, they're breaking some kind of rules.

Buying wine in a grocery store, no. Buying a drink at a gun range, yes.

Example #18,059 how Oklahoma gets things wrong.

That was my exact thought as well. Of course the city council voted on the gun range issue. The grocery store issue on the other hand I fear would require a complete political turnover of half of the state legislature.

you're talking about casually drinking some liquor vs. buying large quantities of it, so that really isn't fair. The old liquor laws are likely going to be replaced anyways, so that argument won't be valid for long.

    Ha.

Even better is that you can have a bar at a gun range, but you can't have one within 300 feet of a church. lol.

My best prayers have been when I have been drunk. My shooting skills are terrible sober.

I wonder if it is anything like shooting pool..? There is a butter zone about 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 beers in where I can't miss and can play way over my own head. Add in that last half beer to make three though, and the wheels come off. In the case of the gun range, "wheels come off" = more serious than in a pool hall LOL.

The show made it seem like there was going to be more mixing of guns and alcohol than there will be. The owner pointed out the separation, but I watched and it felt like they were portraying it negatively.

Of course they were. Interesting though at the end they pointed out in informal polling most were for it...ESPECIALLY Blake Shelton LOL.

    Almost Ready

OKLAHOMA CITY - A state of the art gun range under construction in the city is about ready to open. The range originally made headlines because alcohol will also be served there.
The Wilshire Gun Range is nearly complete and the general manager says get your bucket list ready, because you can check off some things in here.

The first thing you see when you enter is the Range Café, where you can eat and order an alcoholic drink. But once you start drinking, you can't get past certain checkpoints.

Past the cafe is the 8,000 square foot of retail space where you can buy guns and accessories. The range partnered with Oklahoma Machine Guns to offer one of the largest rental pools for machine guns in the country.

It's amazing to me that this is ok, but selling cold beer and wine at a grocery store is not ok...

Attended the soft opening last night and wanted to provide a couple thoughts:

    1. Once you order an alcoholic beverage, you are tagged and prohibited from utilizing any range areas from that point on.
    2. This is a really well-done and well-thought out facility. The food was excellent and the overall layout will make fans out of many gun enthusiasts.
    3. The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive, providing insight when necessary.

yes and they made this very clear from the beginning this is how it would be done. No one seemed to understand that though.

People leaving with a gun after a few drinks to drive back home. Try as I might I can find nothing wrong with this.

Happens every day somewhere in OK for many, many people; urban, suburban, town and country folk alike.
That's been a simple truth for far longer than we've had open carry or concealed carry.
