$2.1 million project set to be completed by next fall.



OKLAHOMA CITY (May 22, 2014) – The Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (OCPA) breaks ground today on the Advance Center for Free Enterprise. The multi-purpose facility will be 6,500 square feet and located adjacent to the current OCPA facility.

"When 12 Oklahomans founded the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs back in 1993, their fond hope was that it might lead the Sooner State down the path of free enterprise and individual initiative," Dr. David Brown, founder and chairman of OCPA said. "This new building extends the voice of liberty and expands the footprint of freedom across our state and nation."

The Advance Center for Free Enterprise will host policy discussions with state and national leaders and will become a place for the next generation to be inspired by individual freedom and free-market principles. Policy leaders, lawmakers and citizens utilize the OCPA offices to discuss free-market ideas. The goal for the new facility will be to continue these conversations and offer suitable locations for larger groups, meetings and events.

“As the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs enters its third decade, we are increasing our reach and building upon the vision of free market ideals that have come to define Oklahoma,” Michael Carnuccio, OCPA president said. "The Advance Center for Free Enterprise will highlight the impact of freedom in Oklahoma's history while fostering community through discussions on ideas, policies and principles."

As a resident of the area, I'm thoroughly annoyed with the continued suburban nature of construction in this part of the urban core.

As it stands, there is zero design review.

Is it really that much cheaper to design suburban or is that just all some developers here know how to do unless they are forced into something different?

Nonetheless, east of I-235 is going to be difficult to ever get up to urban standards, but it's never going to start unless there is some sort of oversight.

They should pull some strings and cut funding for State Capitol repairs, so we can build an even bigger vision of the "Dallas-style" Ideal Home used for offices. And surround it with parking.

Some of the surrounding residential area has to go through an HP committee that is managed by the State... it's a joke compared to OKC's HP Commission.

Ya, force them to go back and redesign it and make them spend a few more bucks so maybe they'll have slightly less money to throw around to legislators trying to get them to create a state of dumb, sick, poor, and hungry citizens.

I don't think there needs to be a committee, just better minimum lot line standards, etc.
