Community feedback sought for Southeast Sector Plan

A draft of the Southeast Sector Plan will be presented at a community meeting on Tuesday, December 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Harmony Christian Church, 7100 South Choctaw Road. Participation is free and open to the public.

The Southeast Sector Plan is a concentrated effort lead by Oklahoma City’s Planning Department to address suburban growth and acreage development in Southeast Oklahoma City over the next 30 years. More than 40 community volunteers contributed to the draft plan over the past year.

Lake Stanley Draper, Tinker Air Force Base and efforts to preserve the rural character of Southeast Oklahoma City are some of the topics covered in the Southeast Sector Plan. Plan recommendations addressing residential growth, the protection of environmental and economic resources, anticipated transportation and access needs, existing infrastructure and new development will be presented during the meeting.

Major features in the Southeast Sector include Lake Stanley Draper, Tinker Air Force Base, West Elm Creek Reservoir Preserve and Wes Watkins Reservoir.

“The Southeast Sector Plan is tailored to this specific area of Oklahoma City through the thoughtful input and dedication of the Plan Team’s community volunteers,” said Urban Planner and project leader Aubrey Hammontree.
