Andrew...that's exactly what I was wondering, because I looked up Holiday Inn a few days back and now I have been seeing ads for it.
Yes, through Google.
They access your browsing history in order to provide each visitor with focused ads.
I'm getting Cheetos ads. I think it's because I can't eat those kind of things anymore. Just a subtle form of torture.
Every so often somebody writes to complain about getting ads for Asian dating sites or the like...
Then I have to politely explain those are unique to your browsing habits.
"Looking for a Russian bride?"
"Home STD testing kits"
"How to grow marijuana for fun and profit?"
Oh, wait, never mind.........
Pete...I am gonna put that to the test. I am gonna google "OKCTalk" and see what happens. :-)
Tile Shop and Online Psychological Degree. That's crazy.
Shoot, I get the most boring ads. My current is for Randall Reed ford. I feel like I'm missing out.
I can always tell if a site is using Google ads if I get them in a foreign language and I'm not on a site employing that language.
Stackerrrrz and Zappos.
(those sort of look like a foreign language to me . . .)

Dennis, do not be alarmed. But know this. Nothing about your internet use, especially ad delivery, has been purely random for several years.
Oh, your oil needs to be changed, that shirt you are wearing is sooo not you, and Listermint is on sale this weekend.

A wee funny on ads here. A short while back I shared with some friends a silly parody off Frozen, where a song was rewritten to be Will you help me hide a body?
I can't swear there is a connection, but since doing so I sure seem to get a lot of ads for used cargo containers.
I'm hopeful that's just an odd coincidence.
Guns and bibles on mine....
"Check your arrest record" and "toenail fungus".
Don't ask me. I don't have a clue either.
I actually click on ads that I find somewhat useful hoping they will serve me ads for something I might need or buy.
Vineyard Vines. All the time. Which is really strange because I've only been to that site once or twice, it's certainly not one I visit much.
Oh jeez, it's about diamonds now. Can not let the wife see that.
10 Things to Do in Oklahoma City.
(posting/contributing to OKCTalk was not among them.)
(nor was the Downton Festival o' the Arts)
University of Arkansas Law School. WTH?
Mine are usually Brooks Brothers and Vineyard Vines ads.
