American Idol is probably facing its last season either this year or next. Ratings have totally tanked and the show is very expensive (especially for a reality show) to be produced. Idol just died once the original judges started leaving. The genre is fine, The Voice does well, but Idol just isn't doing it for people anymore.

The luster is starting to fade. My niece went to the Oklahoma City tryouts they filmed here a couple of years ago. She has an awesome singing voice and was prepared to go in front of the judges. Instead she was declined by a judge who was listening to three people sing at once. She said the judges did not even appear to be paying attention to most of the people who showed up to tryout. In her and my sister's opinion it was as if they already had the contestants picked out long before the tryouts even started. It always came off to me as somewhat fake. Their experienced confirmed just that is indeed fake/scripted.
