Never heard of it.

It's the club that someone was shot and killed at last month.
It's on the Canal next to Coyote Ugly's, right?
Yeah former Rok (Rap) bar location
Correct.
I am trying to figure out if they are closed or closing in the near future. We have a new customer coming in next week that plans to open in Bricktown. I was told: "They are going into a place or something called social?"
I have no idea if that is true, but I was curious. The new concept will involve moonshine.
If they haven't closed they probably will soon. Once a nightclub has a shooting, its stigmatized forever. At the very least it will have to be rebranded.
Facebook page now says "permanently closed".
A place called Moonshiners will be going in it's place. Live music and moonshine cocktails (I suppose similar to Hillbillies on 9th).
Yeah ... nothing says calmer and low violence than a focus on moonshine
Well, they were open last night (as Social), so not sure what the FB post is all about. A badged and armed security guard was out front hustling drink specials inside. Made me want to run right inside...
Pete looked at the wrong FB page.

It's still open. I am not sure for how long though or if they are still doing good business.
It's very open. The line to get in that place at 1am was kind of crazy on Friday night. I've been in there a few times, but got right in and don't see why you'd stand in a crazy line like that for such a place...
I'm guessing they are trying for a different crowd?
I would assume that's the reason. Seems like a gamble in bricktown since coyote ugly next door is never busy and is going for the same crowd.
Grand Opening tonight:
Wormy Dog? Seems to me that some of the Toby Keith and Bass Pro crowd would also be attracted to this type of place. As far as Coyote Ugly, different type. My wife and my neighbors would go see Cody Abbot at Moonshiners but you couldn't pay my wife or neighbor's wife enough money to go to a Coyote Ugly. If I owned a restaurant or hotel in bricktown, I think I would like this type of venue to be here. Unlike a nightclub which will draw very late at night, you will have people coming to Bricktown to see an artist, perhaps eat dinner first and then maybe get a room if driving in from out of town.
A live music venue is unlikely to provide these owners with the revenue to which they have become accustomed to from their various concepts at that location. My prediction is that they have an occasional college/hip-hop night, which in turn becomes so successful that they allow the entire concept migrate back in that direction. This is probably just designed to keep the heat off for a while.
