Gotcha. I wish we could just do away with the word. It's becoming increasingly irrelevant and is nothing but a barrier to developing a place people actually want to go. I used to complain about the parking situation when I went to visit friends in Chicago - then it struck me that well, I was the one dying to go to Chicago in the first place, so maybe I should just deal (or figure out that you can park at a garage on the CTA and just ride the El).

    Try this one:

Hmmmm, petition signatures have slowed to a trickle. I've posted to FB three times and I think I've gotten about a dozen, but I'm getting the impression this has rolled off the bottom of everyone's news feed.

We've got time and we are close to 100 already.

I haven't even posted it yet on OKCT's Facebook or Twitter feeds.

Really good to see lots of local neighbors and businesses in support.

You're probably right, but it's dangerous to underestimate them. They've so far been successful in their NIMBY actions.

Surprisingly some of the protests seem to be coming from people deep into the neighborhood, no where near 23rd...

Not sure how much good a West Texas address will do, but I signed it as well. This is the kind of place I'd like to go to when I'm back in town.

Guh. I am totally in support and actually live in the neighborhood, but MoveOn...

...I think I'll send a letter to planning.

    Pete,
Assuming that the petition ends up with three, four, or five hundred signatures, do you think it trumps a few complaint letters with HH/MP return addresses? Does it become just a stack of paper counted as an opinion, somewhat discounted because it was gathered online, or does it really send the pendulum the other way for these and future projects?

I'm so tired of so much official credence being given to parking when it shouldn't be given official consideration, and concern over the imagined noise and intoxicated patron issues. My bedroom (eight windows) quite literally backs up to Paseo Street, opposite Sauced. They regularly have music on the patio. I can't hear it unless a window is open and easily sleep through it. I never have issues with Paseo patrons on their way home. The only criminal issues I've had were two attempted muggings and theft of my vehicle back in 2004 when there were far fewer people on the streets at night and they were of a far different character that never spent a dime in the Paseo.

Also, do all the non-OKC addresses get discounted?

For what it's worth, I am so glad you started this petition. The support is awesome. I hope that it is effective in sending a message to the commission.

Actually, not very surprising. Busy bodies with a lot of time on their hands immersed in a pearl-clutching kerfuffle. Not surprising at all, because this has less to do with actual neighborhood concerns and more to do with perpendicular cultural paradigms.

I explained in my e-mail that these are the types of developments that draw me from Texas to spend my money.

When is the hearing? I'll show up with bells on. I think we need to show out for OKCTalk! I wanna see the pearl-clutchers wondering what the hell is going on!

PCP could become OKCTalk shorthand for NIMBYism run amok, a term of art describing progressive design / development / quality of life clashes with crotchety, angry, NIMBY types.
