Steam Mops

I have a dirt devil one from Amazon for around 40, its great and doesn't require pumping like shark ones do.

With 1200+ feet of tile here the Wife wanted one. I think they're a good thing to have if you have rug rats but frankly I can make the tile shine like new with no haze using an old fashioned string mop and cheap walmart lemon scented ammonia.

I also wanted to add we love our steam mop its so much better than regular mop on our sealed wood and tile.

No steam mops here - after reading that you have to concentrate the "steam" over a particular area for an extended time to really kill off the "bacteria/germs/whatever" that is their supposed claim to fame, decided that it was a bit of advertising hyperbole. Sometimes I think the plain old mop with floor soap is the best tried-and-true option.

ylouder - be very careful using a steam mop on a "sealed" wood floor. If there's any imperfection in that seal - and there usually is in some degree - that moisture can find its way through and over the long haul risk causing grief to that floor.

We use a handheld steamer for the bathroom. Wife loves it.

For floors we use a Reveal trigger mop (not steam) with washable pads and refill containers you refill yourself.'

We have a combination of tile and laminate floors. Steam would probably ruin the laminate.

We've had a shark steam mop for several years and love it. The best part is not having to use any cleanser on the floor so you never have any residue. I've steamed out some really messy spots on the tile and grout. Used it on our walnut floors, too.

We just bought our third Shark at Bed Bath & Beyond. The first two both broke at the point where the handle enters its enclosure for pumping. The second one didn't actually break, but became difficult to pump. Haven't used the new one yet so can't review it, but we didn't find any acceptable alternatives locally so settled for Shark, and chose BB&B over WalMart because BB&B promised better warranty service if it too broke...

We have a Haan Model SI-60 we use on our laminate flooring. Paid $99 for it at Walmart.com. Looks like Amazon has it for $89 now with free shipping. I think it works great. It has two settings for different amounts of steam and a remove to fill water container that makes it really easy to fill. I hate using soap on flooring because you never really get it all up and end up just spreading it around. The Hann uses microfiber pads that attach to the bottom with velcro hooks. When you are done using it you can just toss them in the washer to clean them. Everywhere I looked the Hann steamers were getting great reviews.

Bought a shark on Sunday and can't believe I hadn't purchased one years ago it makes cleaning the floor almost effortless.thanks for the input
