Oklahoma City appears poised to regulate UberX, the trendy app-based service that portrays itself as an online “ride-sharing” matchmaker.
Proposed amendments to the city’s taxi regulations would create a new classification, “Transportation Network Vehicle,” for app-based cabs.
The proposals were prepared by city staff and circulated to city council members in the past few weeks.
They would require licenses, permits and inspections, and decals identifying cars as being part of the Uber service network.
