Thread: Commercials That Creep You Out

Default Commercials That Creep You Out

There are lots of them that really creep me out, but this one stands out (plus it was just on the TV).

Every time I see this I can't help thinking of the Hitler Youth and the SS.

Even if I wasn't watching what I eat--and although Toaster Strudels are pretty tasty--I wouldn't buy them just because of this ad (and others like it for the same product).

Any of the toilet paper commercials with the bears that have toilet paper stuck to their bottom.

The Old Spice Commercial with the moms!

This commercial, for an anti-depressant, is so depressing that it makes we want to ask for a prescription for an anti-depressant.
On the other hand, the side-effects are so depressing that the cure may be worse than the disease. Which is, in itself, depressing. This ad is like a Mobius Strip of depression or something by M.C. Escher. If he suffered from depression.

I despise the toilet paper / moist wipes commercials with a woman encouraging us to talk about our bums (but am somewhat amused by the "freshey-fresh" commercials for the exact same product).

They have those tp commercials because the censors canned the ones with the rabbits.

The Reynolds Ford commercials on NewsOK that autoplay at incredibly loud volumes make me want to punch through a wall.

I'm not sure when a commercial crosses the line from simply annoying to creepy, but that Edmond Hyundai spot comes close.

Any E.D. commercial with old people. My parents are still alive and together and don't want to think about that.

I had to really think hard to figure out what you meant by E.D. Then it came to me.
People sitting in bathtubs on the beach is definitely in the category of creepy.
    (Like, Felliniesque/Salvadore Dalian creepy.)

(yet, not as creepy as those old EX-tendZ ads that, thank goodness, have disappeared from the airwaves)

(or any of those 2 Sell Homes commercials. they have creepy written all over them. in the subtitles)

Those 2 sell homes ads also make me want to punch through a wall. I hate those ads!

We were having dinner last night and an anti-smoking commercial came on where a pretty girl was buying menthol cigarettes and she started peeling her face off. OK, I hate cigarette smoke as much as anybody but peeling your face off on a commercial? We were trying to eat for crying out loud!

I don't even get this commercial. He has Skittle teeth because his real teeth are missing? That does NOT make me want to buy Skittles - or let me kids buy them.

Are you stealing my Thunder ('r whut)? =)
Oh. Wait. Edmond Hyundai already did that.
    Creepy.

(no kidding: even the freeze-frame of the vid was creepy. and i have no fear of clowns.
i got over that by overcoming my fear of Howdy Doody. but just barely.)

(into what did "Sugar Rice Kinkles" morph? perhaps Count Krunchula without the chocolate flavor?)

This isn't the original commercial . . . yet you might get the idea:
Apparently the doofus didn't know that you NEVER pour cold water into a radiator without the engine running.

Thank goodness even "the younger generation" (or at least a member thereof with video production skills) understands what really matters.
    Concerning Classic Cars.

Sugar Rice Krinkles - who the hell came up with that name. As for what they morphed into - I think maybe Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles (which happen to be 2 of my favorites).

Don't even get me started on Cap'n Crunch, Quisp or Quake.
The ads weren't so creepy back in the day. They are now. =)
I'm surprised that they didn't include certificates for Candy Cigarettes and Bubblegum Cigars in the box.

And this is exactly what the First Amendment was added to protect. =)

I had heard that the Duracell Bunny almost died when it marched out of it's own commercial and into a commercial for a home pregnancy test.

I'm still shocked they are doing those again after serving jail time for the last scam (in the same line of work) they did.

Does Wava's new plastic face, that she apparently bought after selling off NuSound, count as creepy?

Give her a red nose, an oversized ruffled collar and a pair of inflatable shoes and she might qualify for creepy.
(unless it's an ad for The Stepford Wives for The New Millennium, in which case Linda Soundtrack should do the voiceover)

"Oooooooo . . . That would be TOO creepy (of a commercial)"
