Thread: Park House

This answers the question as to why they have yet to install the sign facing Robinson...

Instead, they will be building a trellis over the entry and adding a monument sign:

There's an entry there? That entire side of the building is so plain I totally missed it.

Yes, I think they realized that was a problem and thus decided to add some greenery as well as a semi-covered entry.

There is a really nice circle drive as well.

Stopped for drinks after the Thunder game a week or so ago. Very nice interior. Unintended consequence of the curved glass: you can't really see the gardens at night because it reflects and refocuses the interior light back at you. All glare. If the MBG was more brightly lit it would cut through. But I know from previous events I have attended in the building that the daytime view is fantastic.

However, the views from the patio on nice days should be awesome.

And, I bet there is far less reflection if you are sitting closer to the glass.

Good point. You're probably right. I was sotting it up at the bar.

Park House just tweeted that starting next weekend they will be offering Saturday & Sunday brunch.

Excellent. Surprised it took so long. Demand is definitely there for it.

Great news. Maybe having another nice brunch spot within viewing distance will shame Flint into pulling it together.

Ate here last night with the wife. I had some very delectable scallops on top of lima bean/corn/pork belly succotash. It was quite amazing. Seriously this might have been the most impressive meal I've had in OKC in a long time.

    Wow, high praise.

Hopefully they are hitting their stride now and enjoy good success.

The setting is hard to beat, and the operators are pros, so it would only make sense that they would quickly place any startup jitters in the rear view. I've been to the bar a few times and once had dinner at the bar, but yet to have a full sit-down dining room meal. I have high hopes for the place long-term.

Just in those few blocks along Robinson in the last couple of years:

    Kitchen no. 324
    Vast
    Flint
    Nebu
    Aravalli
    Park House
    Ice House
    Cool Greens
    and soon, Mahogany

    Amazing!

Our server was one of the best we've had, but our experience was not great overall. For some reason, the bartender decided to do inventory in the middle of the Friday night dinner rush, causing a massive pile-up. Keep in mind this was the Friday night of deadCenter. Really bizarre situation.

They didn't have the wines that were printed on the menu. The wines they did have were not at the right temperature, because they were "being stored in the office." The situation with the wine was so bad they ended up just giving us a lukewarm bottle of red on the house -- which was nice and we were grateful for that, but rather comical for "pros."

Who are these operators, out of curiosity, urbanized? This seemed pretty amateur. It certainly was funny and memorable.

On the plus side, as mentioned, the waitress was outstanding (and handled the total cluster from the management with poise and humor), and I thought the food was quite good.

It's the Holloway family who own Cafe 501 and Boulevard Steakhouse, along with a chef formerly of Stella.

Pretty good restaurateurs. Not sure what happened the night we went, but it made for high comedy. I tried to give the restaurant a few months to work the kinks out. Oh well, the food was good and the atmosphere is nice.

Return engagement for brunch was a much better experience. Had another great server as well. Food and atmosphere were excellent.

I tried this tonight for the first time with my brother, who is visiting from LA. I have to say I was definitely impressed with the food. It's pricey but very good from my standpoint. I had the halibut fish and chips. The fish was excellent. It was very tender and flaky with a great crusted batter and it was served with a very nice homemade tartar sauce. The chips were waffle fries and were some of the best I've ever tried. It also came with slaw, but that was so so. My brother had a lamb dish ( I don't care for lamb so that didn't appeal to me ). He pronounced it excellent and took some home in a doggy bag for later. The only negative aspect was that there were only 3 table being used when we were there. Maybe it was just the time of day on a Sunday which accounted for that.

I was back there for lunch last week with a large group and everyone agreed their meal was excellent.
