EDMOND — Members of LandPlan Consultants Inc. will be looking at Arcadia Lake next week as their work continues for the first phase of Arcadia Lake Trails, Edmond Parks and Recreation Director Craig Dishman said this week before the Edmond Fish and Game Commission.

The City Council recently accepted a contract from LandPlan Consultants for the first phase of designing the 18-20 mile trail to wrap around Arcadia Lake. The first segment of the trail will be 18 feet wide, Dishman said.

“We expect it to be the busiest part of the whole loop of the trail system out there,” Dishman said.

Designing the 3.1-mile segment of Spring Creek Trail from Interstate 35 will cost the city $200,000, Assistant City Manager Steve Commons said in January.

“We’re moving as fast as we can with what funds are available,” Dishman said. “The Spring Creek portion of the trail which runs from the end of Fox Lake under I-35 to the park will go under construction we hope this summer.”

Construction on the first phase of the trail should begin in late spring and take three or four months to complete, depending on weather conditions, Dishman said.
