I had it from an excellent source that Jim Thompson was going to move in there. Perhaps something changed. I was also told he sold his home and for about a month or two this fall he lived in one of the brownstones. It made sense that he was living there temporarily until Aloft opened, but I haven't seen him or any lights on for awhile. Who knows what happened.

I was the former DOS there, and I can confirm that the owner did plan on living in the top suite. He had a kitchen and everything designed for the spot, along with doors upstairs that opened up to the rooftop bar. However, the general contractor talked him out of it cause they knew that Starwood would not be happy when they found out what he was doing. It was a mess for a while, until they finally talked him out of it.

    From today courtesy catch22.

Note the stainless steel columns going up on the outside. And that last photo is an awesome little urban scene along 2nd. Will be even better with OKSea.

Regarding the last picture, I am just really tall. I did not trespass on the railroad line, who would do that?

They were laying pavers in e sidewalk at 6-7pm today. Someone must have realized they're behind schedule....

I believe they will hit their March 13th opening date, which is just over a month away.

They seem to be moving pretty fast now.

It really looks as if the exterior is almost complete minus some landscaping. It's getting really close.

Judging by all the planters and their depth, I would expect the landscaping to look great. All I can see that they've got to finish on the outside of the structure is the pillars and what I assume is signage.

I believe most the guest rooms have been complete for awhile.

They are really done to some outside finishes and the lobby; both should go fast now.

They were getting deliveries of mattresses all day on Saturday which leads me to believe that the rooms are pretty much done.

I'm going to remember you said that, Spartan. It might be a useful quote to bring back up in the future.

Are they doing memory foam or spring? I stayed at a Country Inn in Port Charlotte, FL and they memory foam mattresses and they were awesome.

Incidentally, the website now says "Hotel Opens April 17. Taking Reservations May 8, 2014."

Ugh. This is going to end up impacting my sister staying there in late May...

Do they mean they won't even take a reservation until May 8 or you can't book a room prior to May 8th? They're starting the landscaping and there's hardly anything else left to do on the exterior. It looks like it will be done soon.

How does a May 8th availability impact your sister's late May stay?
