Thread: Car Collections of Oklahoma

    Default Car Collections of Oklahoma

A great book for those interested in cars and the Oklahomans who own them. It covers everything from brass cars to classics to muscle cars. Ann Sherman spent 4 years working with different car collectors such as Bob Howard, Don Boulton, John Mullen, and Larry Knippelmier.

Rick knight is one of the best free hand painters in the business, and we have one of the top car builders in the world right here also his name is Steve Cook. There is a guy out in piedmont that has been restoring ac cobra serial number 1 and discovery channel has been filming the whole process. Oklahomans love their cars, I have a buddy that has been collecting for years that was approached a few months ago from a buyer wanting to purchase all 50 out of his collection.... He took the offer which was an undisclosed amount and now he's starting over like a kid in a candy store.

Steve Cook is actually featured in the book. He's the 2014 builder of the year for the Grand National Roadster Show.

    Here's one of his cars:

Chris Salyer has been into Aston Martins for a long time, I met him doing car show/auction work at John Hoke Lotus in the late 80's. There are quite a few collections around OKC and the sate that people know very little about.

Yeah, after spending quite a bit of time around Chris in the nineties and early aughts, I honestly can't hear or read the words "Aston Martin" without bringing him to mind. He is a prolific collector. I actually sat in that DB3S once. No ride though...
