Thread: Alfredo's

    Multiple Locations Alfredo's

Has anyone heard of this? I believe I saw a sign on the marquis at 39th and MacArthur...in the area of Jersey Mike's, that Alfredo's Mexican restaurant was coming in.

I think you posted in the wrong thread man, maybe try pm'img Pete or MMM and asking them to move this to appropriate category.

Alfredos is similar to Ted's. but IMO, better. They have locations in Moore, Edmond, and Yukon already. If you haven't tried it already, do it. you'll be impressed

There are already two really good Okie Mex places nearby: Able's at 50th & MacArthur and Casa Perico at 63rd & Meridian.

I agree about Alfredo's. It is slightly better than Ted's but doesn't have near the hype so I've been able to eat there without 30 minute waits.

We eat at the Alfredo's in Edmond quite a bit. We really like it. It does get really crowded though, especially on Fridays, of course. We've had to wait many times between 15-30 minutes, but it's worth the wait.

You won't get in the Moore location in 30 mins on a Thursday,Friday ,or Saturday night

I'll plug Alfredo's too. We initially became fans with the Weatherford location which is now closed. Yes, it is Ted's-like.

We also enjoy Los Amigos which is a block or two north of 39th on MacArthur. Hope all of these places have continued success.

is this going in the corner of that strip mall where Cocina De Mino (and a Luby's at the other end) used to be?

Looks like it will be on the SE corner of 39th and Mac Arthur.

    Multiple Locations Alfredos Mexican Cafe

Just got a brochure in the mail advertising a new Alfredos Mexican Cafe in Warr Acres. 3800 N MacArthur. I think they have higher quality Mexican food than say a Chelinos. The one we usually go to in Yukon is always packed. This one is right around the corner from us.

Alfredo's high quality closer to Teds than anything else.

    Why?

If this is the same thing as the one on Broadway/33rd in Edmond. Then yes it is good. Better bang for buck than Teds (why does everyone in OKC have a fascination with that place?!).

I guess because the Good Lord gave everyone different taste buds. I can say the same thing about On The Border. I really liked Nino's on NW Highway but it closed.

It is. There is also one in Moore on I35 and in Yukon as previously mentioned. I've never eaten at Teds but the wife has and says it is good but likes Alfredos better.

    If it's the same Alfredo's that's on @ S. Penn and S.W,. 119th then it's
pretty good. However, Los Amigos, on @ N.W. 41st and N. MacArthur
is hard to beat. In fact, Los Amigos is so consistent that I may never
    try Alfredo's a second time.

Chellinos is good. That's all. The one in Bricktown is consistent. I
ate at the Chelinos in Bethany once. Since Los Amigos is so much
better, and I mean El Charrito better, I doubt I'll give them a second
    chance.

Los Amigos Rocks! Los Amigos rocks BIG TIME!

Yes! Very good. I've eaten there several times and haven't been
disappointed. Abel's (Ah-Bel) is good,, too. I like it better than
Pericos (Parakeets) but only because it's not the usual Tex Mex. Pericos
is very good. You won't be disappointed with Perico's.

But, I like Los Amigos best of all. The reason is because it reminds me
of El Charritos. El Charritos is, as far as I'm concerned, the watershed
    of Tex Mex in OKC.

Hey, El Charrito may have been the worst Tex Mex in the world but it's
what I enjoyed once a month for years.

Is that new Alfredo's in the middle (bend) of the strip where Cocino De Minos (I might have spelled that wrong) used to be? Nice inside but no store front to speak of. Hard to see that there is a restaurant there from the street.

Do you mean SW 119th and Western maybe? If so; then, that place is called Alvarado's. It is pretty good, too. The only restaurant I know of near SW 119th and Penn is Stuffed Olive which is definitely not Mexican of any flavor.

    Here's another vote for Alfredo's.

The story we've heard is that Alfredo's has a heavy family influence from the folks that used to run Ted's - back when Ted's was worth it. Alfredo's is consistent, tasty, and one of our favorites - although I must admit we haven't been there quite as often lately as I've been on the calorie-watching binge over the last couple of years.

We stopped doing Ted's over on Western (and even N. May) years ago. The prices skyrocketed and the quality went in the dumpster a few years ago. I've mentioned in this forum in another thread that when my wife says "no mas" to a Mexican place, its deathly final - like Amish shunning, only more severe.

Ted's used to be one of our favorite places. But when things...changed...and we all started noticing the change in prices and quality, but we we're trying to be patient/tolerant of just a few bad outings, she said, one day, something to the effect of "You know, we can get a lot better enchiladas for a lot less elsewhere," I knew that was probably the End of Ted's. And except for, I think, a single church or other social gathering where the location was already determined, we've never been back.
