Unfortunately unless it takes of for commercials, low availability will really reduce the chance this is ever used for mainstream films. Say it does get widely deployed though, even then it also has other issues like some directors and genres may not be inclined in increasing complicating (and cost of) the filming and editing process for this, also theater designs are not even close to uniform so would not want to place anything too critical on the side since it may not be visible at all or have an obstruction like you see where there was light sconces. I could see something like this being like the next 3D but would it be modern 3D where it is a feature they can up-charge for big budget movies or 3D from the 50s-90s where it is incredibly rare and often felt tacked on.
