Oklahoman Reporter Arrested - NewsOK not reporting it

I guess I'll be the one to post a thread on this. Every pervert upskirt photographer arrested at WalMart or the fair or anywhere else is reported front page on NewsOK. When do they NOT do that? When it's one of their own reporters arrested for upskirt photography at the Moore High School's joint graduation, of all places.

The Oklahoman should come clean and report the story. They don't have to do an internal investigation first. Turn it over to a reporter and write it like you would any other story like this and list his occupation as a reporter for The Oklahoman. The internal investigation should be for your own internal issues. The story should be a story about an upskirt photographer arrested at the Moore High School's Joint Graduation, just like you do for anyone else when these things happen.

I read about it on TLO and then talked to someone at OCPD who told me that the cops knew about his past criminal arrest minutes after his booking and mug shot was taken. Zeke's story to the police about forgetting his SD card at home is just laughable. It's sad really and he needs help. You have to wonder about a guy who can deny these things and forget about the one thing that trips up perps all the time, surveillance cameras.

zoo, there is a near blindness to security cameras. They are everywhere, more so now than even just 15 years back. Folks get so used to them they absolutely truly forget there is almost no where in a community one won't be captured to video while doing X, and while in route to and from the site of doing X.

The offense is punishable by a $167 fine.

The FBI also investigated Campfield after a 16-year-old prostitute claimed in May he paid her for sex. He told agents he did not hire the prostitute. No charges resulted from that investigation.

Considering the prostitute was a pregnant 16 year old who was deemed a victim of human trafficking (a charge the pimp was convicted of) - yeah, I think she has a right to 'complain.'

Well, her 'situation' is one where a 21-year old man was having her (while VERY pregnant) have sex with as many men as he could find for her. To some, that changes her status from 'a prostitute' to 'a victim.'

You'd be hard pressed to find an underage prostitute that is working either by choice or by force giving their real age.

My biggest gripe is that Zeke wasn't charged in relation to the prostitution activities with the minor.

Doesn't matter in the eyes of the law. 16 is the age of consent in Oklahoma, but not if prostitution was involved (regardless if the person swore they were over 18).

The law is pretty clear - A male/female can consent to sex at age 16 (unless it involves a teacher, etc.). However, prostitution draws the line at 18 (line between juvenile and adult prostitution, not between legal and illegal - its all illegal)

Regardless what age the girl claims she is.... if your pimping her or buying her, the law says you're in deep doo-doo.

Also, even in consensual sex, if the girl says she's 16 and she's really 15 - same pile of doo-doo for the guy.

In this case, the 21-year old was pimping her - more than a boyfriend and he pled guilty to human trafficking her.

However, had the 21 year old and 15 year old just been boyfriend and girlfriend and prostitution was not a factor, he could have still faced rape charges regardless of how old she told him she was.

I believe she was 15 when they met.

But this is where the greatest power we give our police officers and prosecutors comes into play - the power of discretion in how we interpret and pursue the law.

In this case, Zeke apparently gets to pay for sex with this pregnant minor who's dubbed a human trafficking victim and he faces no prosecution, no sex offender registration.

The girls pimp, who should have gone to prison for a very long time, instead gets a year of offender boot camp.

I'm amazed how much leeway we give sex offenders but seem to go overboard with drug offenders.
