OK River Harvey btwn SkyDance and river

I'm looking for some information about construction on Harvey between the SkyDance Bridge and the Oklahoma River. Out on a ride last week, I stopped on the south side of the bridge to admire what is arguably the best view of our city's skyline. When I turned around, I noticed the real juxtaposition the undeveloped land lends itself to. Can you guys help me answer a few questions? Will repaving that road be part of the park construction or separate? Will it include bike lanes? What kind of time frame will there be? Any help is appreciated.

The lower park which you speak of, is years from development.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

That area is referred to as the "lower park" and here is the latest rendering and phasing from the consultants. Harvey may be resurfaced but that is not part of the Maps 3 budget.

Also, see this thread for more on the entire Central Park project:

    Central Park - OKCTalk

Following approval of the Master Plan, the Downtown Public Park will be designed and constructed in three
phases, similar to the outline provided in the original MAPS 3 Implementation Plan. Phase 1 will include the
Great Lawn and Promontory, stage, Boulevard Gardens, and temporary Robinson Plaza, to create an immediate
iconic destination and major downtown performance/event venue. Phase 2 will include the balance of the Upper Park
improvements (Union Station improvements are not included in the MAPS 3 budget). Phase 3 will include all of the
Lower Park improvements to SW 15th Street
(river-edge park improvements are not included in the MAPS 3 budget).
It is anticipated that construction of Phase 1 will be completed in Summer/Fall 2015, construction of Phase 2 will be
completed in Winter 2018-19, and Phase 3 will be completed Winter 2020-21. Park Construction has already begun in
terms of the Upper Park site demolition and preparation, and will be ongoing, with only minor gaps, until completion of
the Lower Park in 2020-21. Park implementation delays could potentially result from land acquisition/assembly obstacles,
hazardous materials remediation, major utility relocation issues, lack of coordination with off-site improvements (such
as the new Downtown Convention Center or the Boulevard), significant changes in scopes of work, or other unforeseen
    circumstances.

I wished I could just fast forward to 2020.

The park finished, the boulevard complete, the streetcar up and running, at least one (probably several) new towers in the skyline, a mass of new downtown residents ambling through the streets...

Oh well, at least this way I get the fun (aka agony) of watching it all come together.

Don't go that far! Stop at 2019 and get a year of the enjoyment. Per JTF, in 2020, the Mayans recalibrate and cause doom and helter skelter. We shed the federal government and become a city state (well, you will -- I'll be deannexed and fend for myself outside the harsh city walls). Cats and Dogs will be living together (in SIN!) and elephants and donkeys will be a relic.
JK, JTF. You're probably spot on and I just mocked your accuracy. Well, I guess that's why I'll be outside the city walls.
