Thread: Carl's Jr

  1. #1

    Large Chain Carl's Jr

All boarded up, signs gone, no mas.

No big lament, as it never seemed to have much business, and we didn't go there that often, but it once was a pretty busy place. The location was one of those old Hardee's from the original Carl's Jr buyout or takeover or whatever it was.

Wonder if the building has sold or if its just going to turn into one of those nasty, empty buildings.......that NE corner of SW 89th and Western is just painfully ugly with that horrendous stone wall stripmall. Wish some wise investor could just buy that place up, plow it down, and put something nicer in its place...

Their website shows 10 locations in the metro area after this one closed.

i wonder if the location @ I-240 & penn is still open... it never seemed to do a lot of business, either. -M

    Oh . . . You meant old, abandoned wise investors rather than Hardee's/Carl's Jr's . . .
    (for a second there I thought . . .)

Well, I gotta say, I tried a Carl's Jr burger in Georgia this past summer and it was really good - hot, fresh lettuce/toms/etc, and the store was 1000x more appealing/cleaner than most of the ones here in OKC. I don't know who handles these OKC-area franchises, but they don't do the name any favors.

I'm not really surprised that particular Carl's Jr closed. I like many of their burgers, and I think their fries are some of the best fast food fries. But, the people working in that location always seemed pretty sketchy to me. I often frequent the Carl's Jr on 19th street in Moore. It is newer, much cleaner, and the employees are a better cut of human.

I just ate there on Monday ...... It was always pretty busy

Guess I based my post off two factors

I have never had anyone say "Let's go to Carls Jr" and I rarely saw any traffic at the old and new location on 19th in Moore

New one opened in Edmond last week or so. Still haven't been though its two blocks away. Their breakfast wasn't too bad the last time I ate there 5 years ago..

In all fairness, mmm, a good Carl's Jr puts out a pretty darned good burger. In fact, I ate at the now-closed Carl's once a couple of months ago, and while it was bereft of customers, they handed us a properly-filled order that was hot and pretty tasty. Couldn't complain. Their breakfasts were, at least the last time I tried them (which was years ago), really tasty, too.

My dad frequents this location for breakfast, he was told that the building will be torn down and rebuilt as a new Carl's Jr.

Years ago I *accidentally saw a very disgusting commercial for Carl Jr.
    I vowed I'd never eat there. I'm sure I haven't missed anything.

*In 1986, during the Super Bowl, I decided that I would never, ever,
intentionally watch or listen to a commercial for the rest of my life.
    So far, so good.

I like them but I think they are slightly overpriced plus I never really think of them when I am hungry. I would eat there more often though, but just never think of them.

I love their breakfast menu and a few of their burgers. The problem is that I never think of them when I'm hungry because I usually opt for places that are close by when I want a burger. Sometimes it's a chain. Sometimes it's mom and pop places.

My favorite item is the ribeye steak breakfast sandwich. When they opened the one in Del City I expected the Midwest City location to close however, they got a remodel and it looks pretty nice now and the service is not bad at all.

I refuse to do business with the one on 240. They never get my order right and it takes forever to get the order.

Guthrie location turned up closed several weeks ago. Not a fan, myself, but did go occasionally and the food was okay for what it was. Agree it was over priced. I mean, $8-ish for their burger combo? Not again.

i'm not really a carl's fan, but a new structure on that corner may help get brookwood north shopping center turned around. it's my understanding that the owners don't really care about how the place is run and unfortunately that shows in the condition of the property. -M

Hardees--and then Carl's Jr.--has/had some of the best biscuits around.
Perhaps their gluttonous, porcine, dripping, slob-esque ads for the burgers is having an effect opposite of the intention?

Their "low carb breakfast bowl" was good for low-carb sprees.

Also, should mention the service at Guthrie store seemed fine enough.

I've seen Hardee's in small towns. Siloam Springs comes to mind.

I never had a bad biscuit at Hardee's/Carl's Jr's in Guthrie.
They were Historically Authentic (at least in relation to that goofy TV ad featuring Lady Marmalade Biscuiteer).
Now they are gone. (sob, sniffle)

(whut the heck is a "low-carb spree" innywayz? "spree" implies something other than a life-style change.
Perhaps a shop featuring round, punched out, tofu hardtack slabs with some turk-jerky might take its place? =)
