Here is my plan for future LRT lines around downtown, the "circular" idea in which streetcars, like the ones in Portland or Minneapolis, circle the CBD.
One line, the "red" line, takes you from the intersection of Classen, NW 10th, and Walker (by St. Anthony's Hospital) down Walker through northern and western parts of the CBD and through the Arts District by the Civic Center, library, and OKCMOA. Then the line continues into the proposed Riverside district crossing the new downtown blvd. created by the I-40 realignment. Such a line into this area could help to spur additional development once the I-40 project is completed.
Another line, the "yellow" line, follows 10th Street from NE 10th and Stonewall (OU Health Sciences Center) past the PHF Research Park, across I-235, then through north downtown/midtown to Walker (meeting up with the red line) and then up Classen past St. Anthony's into the Asian District and near OCU at NW 23rd and Western. Future additions could bring the line up Western into Crown Heights and Nichols Hills.
Finally the "green" line would connect to the yellow line at NE 10th and Oklahoma across the highway from PHF and head down Oklahoma Ave. through the heart of the Triangle District through Deep Deuce and then across the tracks (via a new bridge) into Bricktown, then across the canal to Reno, where the line would then head west down Reno past the Amtrak/commuter rail station, Ford Center, Cox Convention Center, and Myriad Gardens joining up with the red line at Reno and Walker. This line could aid developments in the Triangle District and in Bricktown north of Sheridan, as well as possible redevelopment of the massive parking area north of Myriad Gardens into a mixed-use district with new office towers and residential (Devon Tower perhaps?).
