Thread: A couple of more concerts announced for The Peake

Not that I am going to either, but it is cool to see that the BOK in Tulsa is not getting all the great acts:

John Mayer is coming on 11/30/2013 and Jay-Z is coming on 12/18/2013.

I am glad the 2 Chainz incident didn't affect anything with the hip hop community like some people thought it would.

Awesome. I'm already making plans to see Jay Z with some coworkers.

As far as the whole 2 Chainz deal, yeah our po po can be a little Barney Fife-ish, but if the money and support is there artists will continue to come. Jay Z is a hip hop legend and doesn't strike me as the type to pull what those folks did. I seriously doubt 2 Chainz will even be around next year.

Again I'll repeat that the staff at CHK Area is absolutely killing it. This may be the first year that CHK's concert series is better than BOK's.

It's good to see OKC getting some more concerts. I'm pretty sure Jay-Z already had a contract so we won't know how the hip hop is affected for a little while.

I imagine the ones that are law abiding citizens will be glad to come here and the others are free to stay away. Why pay money to someone that is just going to buy a bunch of drugs with it?

I would bet that KD signing with JayZ had a little influence on this.

Or maybe Beyoncé put in a good word for OKC after her concert back in July.

You're probably right because one or two of them might be in jail.

You know that goes for many of the acts out on tour and not just rappers.

Well, perhaps 2-Chainz has turned over a new leaf as he has chosen to apologize to OKC.

    Yahoo!

OKC better do a full pre-concert investigation into all artists coming to town to perform!

Oklahoma City prosecutors have filed felony charges against rapper Mack Maine following an alleged altercation with two women aboard a tour bus.

The 33-year-old Maine, whose real name is Jermaine Anthony Preyan, was charged Friday with aggravated assault and battery and sexual battery, according to court records.

Now if we can only get some laws in place to prevent them from unleashing such horrid music.

Im not ashamed to admit I have seen Korn at least 5 times. But not a fan of the stuff they have put out over the last half decade or more so im probably going to pass on this one. Plus not much music to rob zombie, just loud noises.

Right there with you. I stopped buying their albums after "Untouchables" disappointed me. Once Head and David Silveria were gone, I knew it just wouldn't be the same. I am a drummer and I can appreciate the way Ray Luzier plays, but will always miss David since he gave them the sound I am most familiar with. I am glad they still play a lot of their fans' favorites like Blind, Clown, Shoots and Ladders, Adidas, Freak on a Leash and Got the Life but the majority of what I listened to growing up was on the self-titled and Life is Peachy album and they are obviously going to tour to promote their most current album and will play songs off of that.

Korn was all the rage in the very late '90s/early 2000s, but I wouldn't say this is a real big deal today. They are pretty past their peak.

Heard Thunderkiss '65 on the radio last night on the way home from the gym, was a great flashback to 8th grade. That and Black Sunshine were the jams

Korn was the HS football pregame headphone music

Man, I'm down for that concert as long as they play a lot of old jams!

Not quite the notoriety but when Page & Plant came to town in 1998, their drummer was John Bonham Jr. not the same. At least the same family but even though his trade, playing drums was the same, I'm sure some fan from the 60s woulda said "ohhhh, not worth it....". Screw it, if I have the money, I'll pick up a $29.50 ticket!

jason bonham didn't play drums on that tour, michael lee did.

and rob zombie has a great show to go along with the music - background films, flames, lights, go-go girls...

I guess the smoke from the doobie the two girls next to us were smoking must have gotten to me! ;-)

It looks like the OKCPD and 2 Chainz situation didn't affect his coming back to OKC:

Rapper 2 Chainz Returning To Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY - Rapper 2 Chainz will return to Oklahoma City in November as part of singer Rihanna's concert tour, three months after his high-profile arrest.

Rihanna's "Diamonds World Tour" will stop at Chesapeake Energy Arena on November 12. The singer announced Monday that rapper 2 Chainz would be her special guest, along with GTA.

The last time 2 Chainz, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, was in Oklahoma City in August, he and 10 members of his entourage were arrested. An officer stopped their tour bus for a broken taillight, and then detected the odor of marijuana coming from the bus.

Everyone on board refused to get off and locked themselves inside. That led to a nine-hour standoff with police. Officers eventually arrested all 11 people on the bus for obstruction. They bonded out of jail the same day.

Epps later called the experience "frustrating," and apologized to his Oklahoma City fans.

Just announced: Slipknot, Korn and King 810 going on tour together and playing at The Peake 11/5/2014. They are playing only 25 US shows on this tour so it should bring in a crowd. Plus, Slipknot has not played here for two years so they were due to come back.

Foo Fighters coming to OKC on September 29th, 2015. No concert in Tulsa and none in Texas. Should be a great show and glad it is limited:
