Joining Sept & October today for this go around. Fall severe weather season starts to kick in towards the end of September into October. Looks like it'll be plenty hot for the first chunk of September. Front coming through. Line of light to moderate showers from Sayre to Arapaho to Watonga up to Enid and Newkirk. Should be over here in a couple hours. Could see activity pick up and some stronger storms form. Not a widespread soaking unfortunately. We need it at this point as drought conditions are starting to come back.

Looks like temperature relief is here. But the rain is not. Most of the state headed towards the span of a month of no rainfall unless something changes. Was really hoping the grass would stay green the entire duration of summer.

We (DFW) had some light rain Sunday night and halfway through Monday which was nice. The 10 day forcast is calling for mid to upper 90's and dry. That's still better than the 103-105 we had last week.

Many places in Oklahoma fell a bit short in getting the normal amount of rain for August, so there's not much of a moist buildup to cope with an unusually long dry period.

    Drought conditions coming back.

It's about time for a tropical system to pay us a visit...

Amazing how OKC is so few counties away from being in exceptional drought.

I don't think the first hurricane of the season has developed, yet. I think, for now, we can handle one better than in 2007 and 1986.

No hurricane yet...the 8th tropical system is in the Bay of Campeche right now.

Change is here. Every day from here on out should gradually get cooler. Dropping us to highs in the low 80s by mid next week.

Rain chances returning same time. Slight chances into the weekend. GFS picking up on the possible tropical system in the gulf bringing us rain next week. It is too early to be certain, but any large amounts of rain over small time periods will result in easy flash flooding due to the top layer of soil being rock hard right now. (~25 days without precipitation)

Sheeeesh I live up there and get flooded out 3 times this year, I move to DFW and it quits raining.

Finally moving out of the boring time of year. Guess I need to start cleaning up the website and making it all pretty for the Fall storm season.

Drought Monitor is updated finally and has at least some drought conditions now for the entire state again.

Imagine above is pretty clear. 100% has at least some drought conditions from D0 to D4. Not sure where you are getting your numbers from.

He was probably referring to the "abnormally dry" terminology used which is still drought conditions or developing drought conditions.

Noting that it looks as though we might be in for some rain here in OKC this afternoon. Boy it is hazy and muggy outside.

Had a small shower on Rockwell between Hefner and NW 122; drove out of it by the time I got to NW 122 and Council though...

This may not be the right thread, but I wanted to mention that the NOAA statewide tornado records now shows 56 tornadoes during the month of May this year. Maybe this wasn't an average/below average season after all, from a scientific standpoint.

OKC can't even get bypassed by the weak weather systems moving through the state. But then it's the first day of the fair to factor in.

It was pouring nice and solid today along May Avenue between Britton and Wilshire and a lot heavier to the south and north. It was nice hearing that thunder off in the distance!

My buddy had his picture shown on KFOR last night. He lives over around Danforth/May and he received 4.5". Crazy that in 3 or so miles you're looking at that much difference...hence the term localized flooding.
