Change of leadership normally means they want their own team in place. Dean Blevins did the same after Bill passed away. Heck...I've done it when I've moved into leadership roles at companies past.

Dan Threlkel was escorted out before his last broadcast because he bad mouth management and promoted his new storm shelter business in a 1am Facebook post. lol

After much prayer and consideration I believe the Lord has led me to leave my post at news9 and give myself fully to ministry through the local church...more to come but for now, thank you to my News 9 family and for all of you who have walked this road with me. My last day on air will be next Friday September 6th.

From local weatherman to ministry . . . . interesting career shift.

It is definitely...unique. However, I'm not one to judge people making a design based on their faith. That is a personal decision and I always believe faith should be a private situation unless you force it on me. Wish him the best, but I have a feeling the time with Gary leaving was convenient for Payne to bring in the people he wants.

I don't know what I'm going to cringe about more...Payne being the main guy now, or having to deal with arrogant Bender even more. Ahh well. There is always Damon and I guess he's a decent guy that I can force myself to listen to. LOL

He was starting to believe global warming was true and this conflicted with his religious beliefs so he had to leave! LOL. Just kidding... Or am I?

I don't think he's the first. Back in the mid-90s, Brian Brus was one of the top assistants there; he left to become part owner of an evangelical UHF station!

I wonder if Emily Sutton will end up at KWTV. Mike Morgan needs to retire after his fiasco with telling everybody to get on the road when a Tornado is on the ground. Nick Bender will probably be the only one to stay. I have a feeling Jed Castles will probably bail for Florida at some point since his new wife is from there and his kids are almost grown.

I half way expect KFOR to do a little house cleaning on news, weather and sports as soon as Tribune take over. If you compare WGN (Tribune's flagship station) to KFOR it's clearly a night and day difference. I could easily see Tribune snaging a few employees from KWTV to bring viewers back to KFOR.

My guess is that Emily would have more opportunity where she is than by going to KWTV. The Tribune v. Griffin, not even close in avenues for career advancement. In addition Emily being from Illinois, the Tribune could be a door to Chicago. NBC v. CBS? The Weather Channel is an NBC property with no CBS equivalent. A lateral move across town could be a dead end.
