Denny's, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Carabba's, Applewood's, Steak & Ale (cheap shot, I know), and I'm sure some others I have missed, have closed up shop. It's not impossible, but it's shown some weaknesses whereas some of the establishments to the east have been more consistent.

"this" becomes an arbitrary imaginary boundary to prove a negative point. I dare say that within a mile has the most food served of anywhere in the metro, save possibly in Moore in the two mile stretch by the theater.

That area of QS is known as "Death Row" among many in the restaurant industry in OKC. Yes there have been many successful restaurants in this area as well, but there has also been a LOT of turnover with new restaurants that have opened and failed quickly.

I actually think that S&B will do pretty well there as it has a pretty good concept going for it. But there definitely has been a good number of restaurants that have opened up in that area and closed fairly quickly.

Deep pockets doesn't always equate to a viable business plan.

I think Falcone's may be a good example. He obviously had some money, but that didn't make his pizza at his expanded locations edible - even though I personally thought his original location was really good. He just couldn't seem to replicate it consistently - which is what I hope S&B's will be able to do.

That said, I think a place like S&B's can loose some of its allure when they have multiple locations. It just doesn't seem like as 'fun' of an outing to eat there when its not as unique IMO.

They might make a go of it in Tulsa but that town is already loaded with good burger options so it's not going to be easy and they will have to bring their A game to that area.

I've never had a bad experience at the original S&B location but I've found the one on 9th Street and the one on Walker to be inconsistent with their burgers.

There is a Chuy's in Norman. They are based out of Austin.

Personally I'd like to find some real Austin BBQ in Oklahoma City but the only place I've been able to find it is my own backyard.

I didn't know they were Emerging Brands. Considering Bricktown Brewery and Pablanos, I'd consider this a good thing. So pretty much all the "locally owned" chains are now backed by Emerging Brands it looks like.

I thought Old Chicago was national. Emerging Brands may have the local franchise.

Interurban is a weird animal - Emerging Brands may own a couple, but there's also an original ownership group that has a couple of its own.

Coaches is all gone now, if I recall correctly.

Also cafeboeuf is right about the fact that they are a franchiser of Old Chicago, but is regional and not just in OKC (I know for certain they are in Missouri, and I believe they are in Kansas).

There are several of them. The original is in the office building just north of Best Buy on May. The second one is on 9th street east of Broadway. There is one south of I-240 on the west side of Walker. The one in Norman is on Main street in the old Coach's location. The newest one is where the Denny's used to be on May, north of Memorial. I have only ever been to the original and 9th street locations and they were pretty consistent.
