There is parking out there, you might just have to walk a little bit.

Thank you, I was wondering about that. When I drove through the area I had considered the possibility of parking a ways away if needed, but the idea of parking in front of someones house didn't appeal to me. Will look for the lot by Lyric that you mention. I certainly don't mind walking at all. And I too park at Bass Pro when I go to Bricktown because I don't want to pay to park closer.

You're welcome. Most people in this city expect to park right in front of their destination and walk in. In an area like that, Paseo, Campus Corner, etc, you are probably not going to be able to park right in front of the place you are wanting to go to unless you are there very early or very late.

And just for clarification, I am talking about the parking lot to the west of the Lyric Academy, not the Theatre, they are two seperate buildings. Don't want people to get too confused.

As long as you don't park IN my driveway like many do on busy nights.

When did that crosswalk pop up ? The one on the eastern end...

It needs a flashing light or something.

Wow, do you just call the parking patrol, and if so, how fast is it resolved? That would suck not being able to park in your own garage or driveway.

Most of the griping has come from residents in the area, especially in the case of South Congress/South First in Austin. One of the redeveloped buildings in Austin on South Congress has built a garage which helps there, the ground floor retail helps break up the parking garage look at street level.

There have been grumblings in the Baker Neighborhood (South Broadway) about the same issue, narrow streets in the area limits parking to one side of the street pushing people farther away and those residents aren't as used to the street parking as those closer to Broadway and many residents also park on the street which further complicates the issue. There is a pizza place that we like on South Broadway, sometimes we just avoid going there or go to the other location north of LoDo because it is easier to get in/out. Most of the time we stop after work to beat the crowds a little bit.

Cleveland has dozens of these kinds of strips like the Plaza, and they all have pay-to-park garages usually located on a block behind the main strip. OKC needs to look at that.

Maybe eventually, but parking is really not a big issue there except for anyone who doesn't realize that you can't always park directly in front of where you're going.

The east side of the building will be a future coffee shop. They had to renovate the building up to code and rebuild the west wall completely for fire safety. They have regular local artwork up on the walls. They also do live music from local artists.

That's the Guatemalan restaurant - being renovated to be bigger and better, without a convenience store inside.

ABC-3 is not permitted in the area, and the neighborhood will not allow it...

The food at that Guatemalan restaurant is fantastic, by the way.

Is that at Independence? If so, I remember it as Tuan Cycles.

Heard that Empire Slice is supposed to open next Friday, August 9th. Not sure of the time. Now, I just wish Danny Bowien would open up a Mission Chinese in that Upholstery store next door.

ABC-3 is a use unit classification (what you can do on a property) that allows all alcohol to be sold for consumption on site. ABC-2 allows all alcohol as well, but only if you receive more than 50% of revenue from food. ABC-3 is essentially a bar (club, etc.), and ABC-2 would be a full service restaurant. ABC-1 allows sale of 3.2% alcohol (cheap beer, essentially) on site.

Alright, so I take it this means the Plaza district will never get any true bars? Anything going into that area will have to be ABC-2 meaning it must be primarily a restaurant?
